i had an "incident" with my airbox outer cover and also HATED the orange logos' on my 03, what color is the logo on the 04 blue 9r? also, are the firebolt stickers (two on tail and one on fairing) the same as the 03? really would like to purchase a 04 cover if they are white (as i think they are) and they are available. (provided of course the logo is already attached.) any help? | ||

I've seen the '04 stickers on the blue '03 9R. It makes a world of difference in the look and gives it a deeper, richer "true blue" look. It also eliminates the "Blue/Orange" affiliation with the Auburn Tigers resented in my part of Georgia. The shop tech at Chattahoochee HD/Buell (Columbus, GA) did this mod to his own bike. Looks nice. Thinking about doing it myself. The set he used included the the front fairing sticker, the tank logos, and the tail stickers. I don't know what the pricing is, or if it can be ordered as a set, but I know it's available and looks sharp. Good Luck, Blackhat | ||

When I bought my bike it had the XB9 racing option decals. $300 of stomach turning checkered flags all over. Spent some time removing those and ordering the wrong color stock decals. Finally got the correct orange ones. I am interested in replacing the raised Letter Buell ones with at different color. My buddy has been trying to talk me into getting a blue set of logos to replace the orange ones that are on the airbox cover just to be different. I am inclined to agree with him because I have put on a dark blue G-Force windscreen and it looks pretty sharp. Soon I will post some pics. Since I have not seen an 04 XB9R, are there any photos available to explain what you are talking about? I did actually see a 04 XB9R, at the CycleWorld motorcycle show. I was focused on where they painted white on the wheels and the pant leg guard. Did not really pay attention to the airbox decals. It reminded of how much I hated cleaning any white wheels. I have experience from my last 2 bikes. I’m like Brian, cleaning is a afterthought and not done often enough. I was in a panic last summer trying to find an 03 Battle Blue in California before they were all gone, found 2, bought 1. well, my "incident" was an attempt to paint the orange logo silver (to match the frame) and it worked...well...sort of. after it was wearing off again (the paint) i decided to take the letters off completely and found that when i taped them off to paint them, i cut into the cover pretty deep. after HOURS AND HOURS of sanding and buffing, i got it smooth, but hazy. i went with vinyl graphics that just don't stick and now that the white is available, it's really just what i was looking for. thanks again, buckinfubba, can't wait to get this going. | ||

well, they didn't seem to "stick" as well as i had hoped. they look good, but just don't seem to have the look i really wanted. the original cover w/the graphics will be up for sale soon along with the tail graphics. i'll see if i can't get that pic off the hard drive and post it again. |
