Hi there all, first post and I hope someone can help. My 2003 XB9R was stored for almost four years and last week I finally got it on the road. Last week it ran great on short trips of like 20 miles but Saturday I went to ride about 100 mile round trip and after starting and leaving it died after a 100 yards or so. Restarted it, waited a bit, seemed fine and I drove off. After half the trip and an hour stop bike wanted to stall, gave it a few revs and drove a mile or so to a friends house. It seemed like it was not getting enough fuel. Stopped for a few hours then went to head home. Filled up with fuel and it seemed to not want to idle, revved it a few times and got it on the road and home. Today I started it up but it won't remain at idle and constantly dies. Any suggestions? |

Fuel filter clogged or bad fuel. |

If it hasn't been run in 4 years, the intake manifold seals may have deteriorated and are causing an air leak, especially after having been through a few heat cycles and a 100 mile ride. You can give it a quickie test as follows: Give it the intake manifold test by spraying propane directly at the seal areas through a crimped copper tube with the engine idling and see if the idle changes any (that is, if you can get it to idle . |

Yes new battery. I wondering if the plugs could have gotten fouled or the TPS needs zeroing and a reset. I'll try to get it to the dealer to see what's up. Thanks everyone. |

Well, bike is at dealer now and TPS was not the issue. They are draining fuel to check the pump. Will keep you posted. |

Well, dealer called Saturday and said after replacing fuel filter all was good. $519 smackers! Today I pay and as they are bringing bike out they say it's having the same problem as when I brought it in. Nice! |
