I put them on my 05 12R. It was a pain in the ass as I went into the harness to solder in the plugs. This makes it possible to easily switch back and forth according to the seasons. For the money and time it took...wasted both. They warm my palm but not my fingers. I do keep a finger or two on the clutch and brake levers at all times so that doesn't help. I will be buying heated gloves this winter. | ||

I got the set up from American Sportbike as well as the relay for them. I love them. Al can help you out regarding installing and the best grips for them. It was pretty easy. I ran the grips to the relay under the seat and hooked up the relay to an accessory wire and done! Oh, the switch that comes with the kit is a 3 position switch (hi/off/lo) and I installed it under the seat where I can turn it on and off through the hole in the subframe fairing on the 12R. Definitely worth it. | ||

I got the "kit" from Buell and changed the harness in a couple of hours. Not the cheapest, but my dealer gave me a good discount. They defiantly do help, but like "Skin" says, they do not do it all. Below 32 deg. I would go for heated gloves, but above that the heated grips along with warm gloves keep me riding but my hands do get a bit cold at times. Everyone has a different tolerance for cold. | ||

Go to Ebay this is the kit that is plug and play ( OXFORD Heaterz Heated Grips ) .This is the kit i got for $62.00 with shipping .They get 131 degrees .They work GREAT. | ||

Now that I review where I'm from and where Stains is from, it would make sense why he votes for gloves versus just grips being heated. The warmest it gets where I live is mid 30's or low 40's. So, again as far as things go here, the grips work just fine. I'd probably vote gloves if I rode in anything colder. | ||

Hmmmmmm.....I figure I would go with the gloves, seeing how I would only use them about 10% of the time. Summers are pretty warm up here (WI). Right now.......too much snow!  | ||

get it from Al and you'll get support if you can't figure it out. I've got Al's setup and it works great. I also have heated gloves, but for all the wire and hassle I only use them <40deg. | ||

of the top 4 name brands of heated grips the Oxford is rated as the best..They do get WARM!! I am a total moron when it comes to anything electrical...took about an hour to install/hook-up and be done!! They are nice even in Spring/Fall when temps start to dip if you're out riding in the evening...flip a switch and in say 2-3 miles, your hands are warming..But, my tolerance for cold is L O W..I can't take it, hands start to hurt at 50 degrees.. So i also have Gerbing heated gloves..now THERE is warm hands. Anyhow, I should've been using the heated grips ten years ago..they are that good (imo) gunut75- yes, there are grips that will work on your bike .. Just remember, you can't forget heated grips at home. The ones Al at American Sport Bike sells are heat element pads that go under the grip of your choosing, along with the Buell switch housing for a factory-installed look. | ||

AAAAH true! I figure if its that cold, I'll know in about 2 blocks if I forgot any vital equipment. Ill check out the ones Al has. I wanna keep the stock look.  Another thing I'm taking into account is how often they are used. For me, the cold riding ends as soon as the salt hits the road. Yes.....our roads get salted! There is no finer chemical, to ruin a beautiful piece of machinery! So I guess I have time. If anyone in SE, WI/NE IL has a set of heated grips attached, let me know! Thanx! I have Polly Grips (but I have a Lightning), and LOVE them. As hot as you want them to be, and cheap. +1 on the Polly grips. I installed them on my R. I drilled the holes so that the wires fed out inside the switch housing (definitely on the left, I think on the right), that way I could feed them out like the rest of the wires. Easy to wire in off the fusebox in the fairing so they are switched (I can't remember which fuse). I've flipped them on a couple times in upper 30's/lower 40's and although they take a few minutes to warm up since they're inside the handlebar, even on LOW I can't keep them on more than 10-15 minutes. They get friggin' HOT! Yes, the backs of my hands may not be as warm, but if you keep a loose grip on the bars, the warm blood will flow and keep things warm enough. | ||

denniskirk.com They are cheap- get the 2 position ones so you get hot and ouch settings. I have the single setting ones, and the only setting is holy crap!  I have to shut them off after a while because they get too hot for me. The single setting ones are actually meant for snowmobiles. | ||

Um...not sure what you're referring to! It's all stock in that regard- you talking about the tank decals? Those are the stock '03 ones (my favorites!). I like hoe the "XB9S" is behind the "American Motorcycles"... and thanks | ||

Yeah, they are chrome...not quite a black chrome, but not as shiny and clear as a normal chrome. They are certainly my favorite of all the Buell decals. Whenever I read the threads about how to remove the tank decals, I think to myself "Why in the world would anyone want to remove them??", then I remember what some of the newer ones look like in comparison! | ||

Hmm...I do not have a part number. Perhaps one of the dealer gurus around here can locate it and discover what's available for a 12. Mine are the factory ones for a 2003 XB9S. | ||

I should've mentioned that I live in Northern Dirty Jersey and ride in whatever temperature it happens to be. That is probably why the grips aren't that usefull to me. |
