That XR1200 is just plane hideous to me + 1000 I would put yourself in a holding pattern until the 1125X Uly comes out next summer... It will be announced June/July... should show up at my dealer about the time the snow starts to fly.... LOL |

...The XB12R is too... You'd better get the white one, 'cause I'm riding the Black. |

First off, grammatical correction, the XR1200 isn't a plane it's a motorcycle. Second, yes in it's PLAIN basic form it's not very pretty in the pics, but neither was the TT, when you see one in the flesh & see the potential for adapting it to your taste/needs, you may well change your mind. Third, welcome back Mr No Fixed Abode, however you want to spell it ya bum. |

In my view, that XR is one ugly motorcycle. You obviously have never seen the Springfield Mile. I recommend that you ride your new Ulysses to Indianapolis to see the GP this coming summer, and while you're there, take in the Indy Mile. After seeing a Mile and walking through the pits, you'll look at the XR quite differently. |

Crusty, Don't misunderstand. I think that the actual XR750 is a beautiful motorcycle. For me, the XR1200 is a poor attempt at replication of it. Plus, 551 LBs dry? What I'd improve... The engine case/cover and extended pulley cover are too much, way overdone to me, just a bunch of useless extra metal saying "look at me!" when the actual working artistry of the engine itself should be the focus of attention. Rather than extending/enlargin the side covers, trim them down and/or if needed blacken some of them out. The stuff filling the area between tank and frame, whatever it is underneath the tank, is also like poo on apple pie. It may fit, but it stinks up the whole deal. I know EPA noise restrictions dictate a mongo airbox. Grrrrrr... Spoked wheels please. XR style exhaust please. Simple XR style swingarm please. Floating front brake rotors with minimalist carriers please. Nice...
Ho-hum...

Thats it, I am picking the pieces to build my own, at less wt that the XR1200. Using the bike I already own, pushing the lines between Buell and Harley. It will have Black XB Front forks, XB wheels, flat track body kit, flat track trumpet exhaust, minimal lighting, and a 1203 Thunderstorm heart. Off new Harleys unless I win the lotto and a new FatBob comes my way |
