I just talked to a dealer on his inventory of Ulysses and these are the prices he quoted me with 2 year warranty's and the current promotion. 2006 XB12X Barricade Orange $8500.00 2006 XB12X Barricade Orange-Demo $7800.00 Approximately 6700 miles. 2008 XB12XT Black $12,295.00 Is this a fair price for the 06's or bite the bullet and deal on an 08? |

Those prices don't sound bad. Maybe see if you can get them to throw in the bags for free. Read the other threads here about the various potential issues with the Uly so that way you are familiar with everything. |

Hasn't the floor been around $6k or so for used 06's ... $8500 for a new one seems like a really nice deal. Personally, I don't see the value in spending nearly $4k more for an '08 ... $4k will certainly buy a lot of farkles, fuel, travel exp. and maintenance. Of course it is orange - but you can always change that. . |

If you plan on any off road riding at all you might want to consider the 08 has the much better steering angle, plus heated grips, bigger crank pin for higher rpm, larger oil pump and oil cooler. Going the other direction, the 06 is ECMSPY friendly and obviously much cheaper. The tall 06 seat is much better if you don't mind the height. You need to figure out what your going to do with it riding wise and take the differences into consideration. |

Buy whichever one you like the most. Ride the piss out of it for 10,000 miles or so. Then, make the changes that personalize the bike to meet your idea of a better Uly. I had an '06 Uly, and I now have an '08 XT. In some ways, the '06 was better; in other ways, the '08 is better. If you're strapped for cash, get the cheapest one. I personally prefer the engine upgrades of the '08, but the '06 should be good for at least 100,000 miles. Whichever one you get, you'll be grinning like a fool whenever you ride it. Edited to correct poor grammar. (Message edited by crusty on November 29, 2008) |

In May/06 I gave $8500 for an '06 Uly with 850 miles. So, IMO $8500 is too much for a 3 year old (new) bike. You would be better off finding a used '08/'09 for $8500 or so. |

Too high IMHO - you see cheaper with bags and less mileage than the demo. If the new one has bags, then that makes it OK |

For a new bike, full warranty (2+ years, this time of the season with the promo)? Sounds like a good deal to me. It's *new*, fercrissakes. If money's the concern, look for a clean used bike. For a new bike (yes, I know it's been sitting...have them put a fresh battery in it, and an oil change if the timeframe really bothers you), that sounds right in line. |

I bought an 08 XT this summer. I felt I couldn't go wrong with the price. The bike has been unbelievable!!! The more miles i put on, the better the mileage got. no problems with the ECM, I did have an issue with the fan, but the dealer fixed that. (plus, I got the FASTER black one). I think I would spend the extra, and get the 08XT. I had a chance to buy an 06 out the door for $7,000.00 with the 2 year war. but it had no bags, no heated grips, low shield, plus, you have to do the whole TPS reset thing. (kind of a pita, when you have to go 100 miles to the dealer). Just my .02 |
