I'm looking for some of the knurled-nuts that are in the S2 (maybe S3?) saddlebags, that the retainer cable attaches to. "Retainer cable" being the cable inside that keeps the lid from flopping 180 degrees when opened.

I've got new cables and screws coming for a project I'm working on (secondary catches, in case of lock failure), but the knurled nuts are obsolete.

Ideally I'd like to find six (2 sets of lids)...but I'll take what I can get : ) If anyone has some, drop me a note, thanks!

Let me know if you have any problems. I **think** the cables and nuts are still in stock at Buell.

I was able to find the same nuts at Home Depot, or Lowes, I don't remember which one for sure.

Dean - I'll check the home stores...I found something close at a local hardware place, in the "lamp hardware" drawer...but I think they were too small (diameter-wise) and the cable would pop off. They were also brass (on a red snap bike? ugh).

Court - I found the cables, the actual screws, and the nylon washers, they should be on the way...but the nuts show "vendor direct / obsolete" with no supersession. Unless they're in someone's desk drawer up in WI, lol.

Frank - I got the pair from you, thanks! Now I just have to work up the nerve to drill holes in my bags....painful.

Yes, the ones I got were brass, but aren't they are on the inside of the bags? The cables seem to stay on mine fine, when I swap lids I just unscrew the nut, and it fits pretty snug. That brass can also be aged or painted.

On the S3 which is what I have there is only the one cable on the forward side of the bag.

I have the stock ones, inside the bag, for when it's open.

I want to add a set to the top, outside of the bag as a "safety catch" in case of lock/latch failure (my bike is an S2, not nearly the latching system of the S3).

Just experimenting..using stock parts in non-stock ways, LOL.
