So I've noticed my Jardine is steadily getting louder and louder and I think it might be time to repack it. Is this what I need?: http://www.jardineproducts.com/products/sfID1/28/s fID2/8/sfID3/5/productID/723 Does that kit come with the rivet gun? Has anyone tried other packing materials besides the fiberglass wool? What about steel wool, or fiberglass insulation? Just curious. Thanks! |

I repacked my dirtbike silencer with duck-board (fiber glass insulation) from the attic.... not sure if the 2stroke silencer's packing is any different from a jardine's packing though |

Dont know about the rivet gun, but I doubt it since you can get one for $15 at walmart or Home Depot. A few years ago I had a Jardine and repacked it with some stuff called Silent Sport. Its usually used for atv and Dirtbikes. It isnt fiberglass so there isnt a mess or itching to deal with. As for sound, the silent sport didnt make it any less loud but gave it a deeper tone and seemed more smooth than the original. |

I bought regular exhaust material from cycle gear, and pop rivited it back together with a $15 rivit gun from home depot. You'll have to do it about every 10 - 15,000 miles... |

You will loose a lot of your low end power if you just take it all out. |

DO NOT RUN YOUR JARDINE WITH NO PACKING!!!! without the packing, the muffler will literally fall apart. Ferocity, do this asap. I bet if you check the rivets are getting loose. This stuff also works good, just make sure you order the coarse stuff. It'll hold up much longer than the factory jardine stuff. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/414669.html?1227044487 |

Would this work for a Vance and Hines also? I've never repacked a muffler and would love to find a way to cut the noise level. There has to be more to it than just shoving the packing up the tail pipe. What is involved in repacking a muffler? |

the aluminum version of the jardine has a habit of rattling itself to pieces once the packing starts to blow out. stainless steel rivets and an aluminum sleeve do not mix well |

The rivets are all tight and good. The pipe just seems abnormally loud. |
