Im trying to remember who had the parts list for the front end conversion of an XB9S to a XB9R. I have a 2003 XB9S that I want to convert to an XB-R. I have been going from the parts list of a 2004 XBR just for the orange bubble. I got a couple of questions. 1. Do I need to move the fuse box to the front? 2. Does the male connector for the lights plug into the female end of the XBR that then goes to the lights? (See parts catalog, think its item 18). 3. I lost the parts list that was posted, and I swear I cant find it to get the parts. Can you either post the parts, or link it so I can comparte with what I have? I got the parts list with my local dealer and it came out to 1136 bucks, but I could have sworn you had it posted at 600 and change. Any help is appreciated. I can be emailed at Felipe_Dominguez@Dell.com Thanks again, Austinrider |

Okay, I found it... Gonen60 is the one who did the work. You did the research on it for the parts. Think you could hook me up with the list? I know you mailed it to me once before, but my hard drive got formatted with out being backed up first so I lost it. Thanks, AustinRider... ps. Gonen60 - you still around? How are you liking the conversion on your lightning? Do you do any track days with it? |

I love my bike, with the firebolt front fairing and handle bars. no track time. I did not have to relocate fuse box. I did need to buy the firebolt ignition switch. 50.00 dollars or so.

Gonen60 I have been considering getting the upper triple from the Firebolt installed on my next Lightning (when the insurance check comes through!), below are some of the concerns that others on the board have brought to my attention. from Wyckedflesh "If you switch you have to move all the front wiring and you lose your gauges since they bolt onto the triple for the lightning but not for the bolt." from Apex1 "You could lop off the ignition switch & relocate it. But the upper triple still won't work, b/c the bar sockets interfere w/ the gauge housing, too." I was just wondering what you found out about this conversion from your personal experience. BTW I do not want the front fairing, just the more aggressive position. |

Im gonna chime in here. Hardluckxb - there is mod to get rid of the S's handle bars and replace them with what looks like clip ons from a R or sport bike. Cant remember who makes them but it has been discussed in the last few days so its a fresh thread. Think the cost is like 250 or 280. It changes the stance with out having to change all the other stuff. I am wanting to do it to encourage a better stance when Im at the track and to get me out of the wind. I had a few people ask me why I dont tuck down when Im in the straights and I told them "The wind is seems much greater, my nose pushes on the sheild because the wind is pushing on my head that much". Gonen60 - just to confirm what Im going to be replacing: Relocate the key Fairing Support Plastics nose Headlights Top triple tree and clip ons Turn signals Mirrors My question (and a good chunk of change) are Guage Cluster Bearings on the stem under the triple tree Does that sound about accurate? Thanks, Austinrider |

its his thread Austin. He already knows, he's looking costwise since the price for the top triple is ALOT lower then the price I was quoted I can see why he wants to do it that way. But there were other fiddly things that just kinda screwed it up. The gauge cluster for an S wont mate to the R's triple without drilling and tapping. The bar ends of the R are too close together so you would have to modify the cluster to fit also. The ignition mount for the R needs to be cut off to fit the gauge cluster. And that is just from visual comparison. |
