Let's do it Gary! We can start a flaming thread on the evils of synthetic oil, diminishing contact patches, and counter steering. That's the best suggestion I've heard all day! |

Maybe we could ease into it by asking what each candidates position is on lane splitting. |

I guess the reason I pipe up one in awhile on the political front is that I see the liberal side on most news coverage with very little rebuttal. (Now Tramp if you can show us her buttal area we'd be in good shape). It really bothers me when we as motorcyclists don't recognize the damage being done to our sport (especially the off-road crowd) when the liberals have their way with so much. Next week may be a huge turning point to the basis of what the real America stands for or are we going down the road that has caused the failure of so many civilizations in the past? |

Just piping in as a sponsor. I'm sad that someone who might have been a customer some day is leaving. BUT I really don't see what the big deal is. Each thread has a title. Except for some rather insensitive non-sequitors by some (buellgrrrl comes to mind here, see above) you can either read the thread or not. If it upsets you to see too much conservative viewpoint, don't read political threads. But don't expect everyone else to stop having fun because YOU don't like it. Ya know, at my kid's kindergarten, they aren't allowed to have a halloween costume parade. They haven't for the last 8 years. I got a rather, I think, curt letter from the admins about how there will be NO halloween fun, NO parties, and I'd better not even THINK about sending my kid to school in her costume. She's in Kindergarten for cripe's sake. And why? Well, officially, it's "inappropriate" for school. But really, when pressed, teachers whisper conspiratorily, ya know, a few kids' parents don't approve of halloween..." WHAT? So NO ONE can have any fun because a FEW people don't want to? It makes me crazy that so much of the majority can't do things because a few loud people make it so hard to have fun that the majority just gives up, lest they be labeled "insensitive". Long way around, but my point is, people who enjoy political debate should enjoy it, here on the Quick board, if they like. Not on the 1125R board, not on the Thumper board. But on the Quick board seems OK to me. Those who don't, shouldn't. Isn't that easier?? ->ChelleM |

Panties in a twist? come sit by the campfire that me and my friends stoke for the holidays and conservatism will seem like a vacation, and liberal would have been left with the bath water it came in on. Gun control is hitting what we aim at. There should be waiting periods for dumb parents to have kids. Property rights mean your civil liberties end at my barb wire fence. Its a Truck, never an SUV or Minivan Women are strong with their own opinions, skills and opportunities, the manicured trophies are best left at the Mall. Gays and Marriage, well neither one of them get much fare around here, much less combining them. National endowment for the Arts, the biggest government boondoggle since the $600 hammer from defense contractors. Its personal responsibility over government supervision, endowment, enforcement or policy anytime. We would write a book about it, but we figure the Constitution already has most of what we need in it. And if you cant laugh about it, or ourselves when needed, you are too damn uptight to survive anyways. Remember when you point a finger, there are 3 of them pointing back at yourself. Go Ride already PS Thanks TRAMP, that is now my desktop screen saver. |

I like peanut butter and jelly too. Oops wrong thread. The thread with girls on bikes was much better than this one. Back on topic. I don't talk to many people about politics. I have cut back because I enjoy taking the opposite view of whoever I am talking to and it just seems to upset them. I don't like that I am this way, I just can't seem to help myself. |

"If this board went far-left, tomorrow, no sponsor would (or should) care a whit, as long as there remained a healthy volume of traffic to this site, which there still, undoubtedly, would be. " I know that to be false. Some folks have values that they are unwilling to compromise. If I'm "far-right" then what are the folks who unlike me oppose legalizing recreational drugs, support the death penalty, and want to deport all resident illegal aliens? I'll thank everyone to not speak for my political views, some of which I hold quite strongly for sure, but they are mine, not yours. If not being a pro-abortion call anything you like "marriage" socialist makes me far right, then you are correct. |

I disagree. The good sponsors of Badweb are here to: A. Promote their excellent wares and services B. Be a part of this excellent Buell community To imagine that they'd pull up their stakes and leave were the board to lean to the left, is utter fantasy. And, Blake- your views are right wing, which is not a bad thing. Own this fact with the pride of one whose views are wrought of the sincerity that I know yours to be. |

This stuff is actually entertaining when you observe and not yourself in the chaos. thinking it over for the time my short attention span will allow, I have drawn out of conjecture these predictions... Election day will bring a welcomed lull if not to the amount of political threads on this board, then at least the ferocity and lack of civility within them. As far as the Republican cheerleading thing, I again think post election day will score a win if not for the country then at least this forum. My reasoning is as follows (Ingest Prozac now).... If the Republicans win, the majority of the board will be happy and tone down the rhetoric turning again back to Bikes, Beer, Boobs and oh yes, Turtles...
If the Dems win, then the majority will be so disgusted with the fact that again they will turn to the triple B's and again, Turtles....
So buck up kiddies, it's all good come 11/05. |

"Far-left" not same-same as "to the left". "Far-right" not same-same as "right wing." Legalizing drugs is right wing? Opposing capital punishment is right wing? Supporting comprehensive immigration reform along with Ted Kennedy is right wing? Who knew? Trying to paint folks with a single color political brush is below you Jay. Blake- easy, Big Guy Any of us can find an initiative supported by another party than our with which we agree, this doesn't make us cross-party moderates. I am sure that Rush Limbaugh supports the same initiatives that you've outlined (esp. that first one ) and it doesn't make him any less far-right. Instead of taking offense at these things,, we should all simply embrace our political leanings. I think that your political leanings,a nd your vociferous broadcasting of same, on this board, were the mark of a man who stands by his beliefs. Nothing wrong with that, at all, and I really don't think any sponsor gives 2 sh1ts either way. They appreciate this fine site for its Buellishness, and would not yank their sponsorship if it leaned, suddenly, left. Buellers are united in their pride of their steep and variable lean angles Methinks too much is made of political beliefs, sometimes. If my neigbhour needed a ride to vote against the candidate I'm voting for, I'd be the first to open my passenger door to him, and get his ass out to the polls. While some may deride (no pun intended) this as a negation of my own vote, I call it patriotism. |

Regardless of the outcome, we have one of the most unique method for transitioning from one leader to another. No war, no coup, no death in the streets. You may not like the successor, but the transition is unique. |

I had an interesting revelation yesterday. Around here, there are a ton of McCain yard signs, but practically no bumper stickers. However, there are a ton of Obama bumper stickers, and almost zero Obama yard signs. It occurs to me that the reasons for this could be: Obama supporters don't want you to know where they live, or maybe they just don't own any property (like good little socialists!). McCain supporters aren't afraid to display signs in their yards because they own guns, and bumper stickers don't do any good when your vehicle is on concrete blocks. I assure you, the above statements are all in good fun. ~SM |
