Has anyone here straight piped an X1? I just read, in the M2 folder where someone did this to their M2. I love the sound of the Harley engine, and am not real concerned with noise. Would the ECM compensate for the lack of back pressure, or could I just use ECM SPY to adjust/tune? I want people to hear me coming, remember, LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES! |

The d&d slip on pipe is akin to a straight pipe... too loud for many. A force system is infamous for its loudness... Some have put glasspacks on- see http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/347524.html?1206664632 I suppose you could put one on, but you need some backpressure or you risk a loss of power. |

You will need to add alot of fuel, and it's gonna run like poo. The dragpipes create LOTS of harmonics and flat spots in the torque band, especially with the aggressive Buell cams. |

If you exhaust system only works at 8000 RPM can your engine even get there ??? The fun to me is tuning where "i" ride(RPM RANGE) ... |

Loud frequently comes at the expense of power. Like Buellistic had stated, our bikes make most of their power in the low to mid RPM range. I have a FORCE pipe that I welded a 1.75" Drag Specialties baffle into the FORCE baffle. People tell me that it sounds great and the additional backpressure lets my motor make power where I use it most. By the time I get to where my rev limiter is kicking in, the bike is done making power anyway. My rice burner friends still walk away on the interstate but not on the tight stuff. |

Just look in the M2 section for the "all by my lonesome self" thread. I think that was my straight pipe you all are referring to. |

If you run drag pipes...keep them a small diameter. Like 1-3/4 max. or you will lose low and mid torque |
