What's troubling is that other dealers in the area are blackballing her- There was no information about how many dealerships allegedly "blackballed" her, just her defense attorney's statement that she has not been hired by anyone else. They may not be intentionally blackballing her, but I mean, jeez, this publicity is a scary thing to an employer. What if it turns out she does just suck at tech-ness? Not out of the question. Then how do they fire her without this same whole thing happening to them? Not just talking about other Harley dealers-talking about the general public everywhere. It's not right, but it scares people! I'd prefer to see how this plays out. Unfortunately, the dealership can't really say anything without making the situation worse. Everything would be construed as big, mean employers taking advantage of this girl. If the situation was that she wasn't very good, and they said that, then they'd be liars anyway, right? Who'd believe them? Plus they have privacy laws to contend with - she doesn't. So we'll probably never really know the truth. Either way, I stand by my original statement. Get mad at the dealers - if you must, get mad at the "neighboring" dealers, if you can somehow glean who they are from the article. But don't be mad at Harley. They really are trying to reach out to new markets, including women. So I seriously doubt they'd endorse this behavior. ->ChelleM |

Chelle, It says a lot that EEOC is taking on the case themselves- that's a rare occurance and says that they think they have an excellent chance of winning the case. EEOC usually finds "probable cause" in less than 10% of cases, and when they do merely tells the complaintant that their investigation is complete and they can file their own suit if they wish. |

Holy sshhiitt !!! this country is so full of effin' cry-babies! Suck it up and go where you will be appreciated. Life is not fair. It never will be. Nor was it ever. The whole pussification of this nation is really begining to make me sick. Can you imagine who we will have in the military in another 20 or 30 years ? A bunch of effin' sissies and girls who want to be boys. Scary stuff indeed. |

So we have moved from I dont want to pay retail on the showroom floor to I wont shop the brand because one dealer fired a tech? You have a bike in your garage, I suggest you get reacquainted with it and go RIDE. The 347 miles I got today, changed my whole perspective on global warming. |

Well, thanks to global warming, it looks like I'll be riding well into November. Through Novemeber 4th though I'm doing most of my riding on the sidecar outfit with the Obama signs. The Buell warranty runs out on the 5th, so I'll probably take it for one last long ride before it gets restricted to local use. |

IF only there was a Messiah that could make all this better...... Maybe there is an election or something that would change how people are treated. And if they aren't treated like you think is right you could have them killed. Yea that would show them.

Through Novemeber 4th though I'm doing most of my riding on the sidecar outfit with the Obama signs. Hmmmm, First I'll badmouth the brand and get people fired up; then I'll look for an isolated incident and twist it around as proof that the brand sucks. It's starting to die down, so I think I'll try politics. Yeah! that will work! I will give you credit; your trolling technique is getting better with practice. But you're still just a troll. |

The Buell warranty runs out on the 5th, so I'll probably take it for one last long ride before it gets restricted to local use. That is why I disconnected my "Warranty Timer"! Now the bike does not know when it will expire and give me years and years of trouble free riding! Take that East Troy!!

Crusty - you missed the more subtle dig to the brand about how Buell sucks. In only one post, she trolled for politics arguments AND still managed to slide in Buell sucks - not reliable after warranty expires - local riding only. Yeah, I agree, with more practice it is getting better. Thank goodness once the warranty expires she'll only spread her pseudo-political crap locally. Oh, and here. ->ChelleM |

What a sorry, miserable excuse for a human being. Don't you have anything of value to contribute to society? Seriously, though - given you're so good at bitching and moaning with no realistic solutions and a clear misunderstanding of anything logical, you should really apply for job here where I work. They'd probably pay you loads of cash just to sit on the phone and not understand anything anyone is telling you. |

GreenLantern- my Buell has needed $2000 worth of warranty repairs. Chelle- I don't use the Buell for politics, it's not reliable enough. Obvious that you follow the NFIB/Republican Party line. But I do have two quarter century old BMWs with sidecars that I'm not afraid to ride anywhere... But New Jersey is a bedrock Democratic state so I doubt I'll be doing any campaigning there. Xl1200r- Thanks for reminding me to renew my membership in the BMW club... Amazing how dealing with the children here increases my appreciation of the ladies and gentlemen riding BMWs! |

Why did politics have to spring up in this thread, Buellgrrrl? Can't we just stick with the subject at hand? My Buell's honestly been the most reliable motorcycle I've ever owned, as odd as that sounds (to me, as well)... Why categorize an entire brand? Sure. Many of them suck, but many also don't. Many HD/Buell dealer service centers definitely suck, but I've encountered one or two that did not. This is the case with many brands, I've found |

Obvious that you follow the NFIB/Republican Party line. See what happens when you assume? Or call things obvious? I am conservative. I am pro-small-business. It would be silly for me to not be pro-small-business. But that doesn't mean I am republican. In any event, you are correct about two things. I am NOT liberal - at least not politically. And what I think in NJ is irrelevant, as the liberals have a firm hold on this state. *sigh* ->ChelleM |

Chellem, don't be drawn in by the politi-trolling. Stop explaining yourself, you owe no one any explanation. Let's keep this thread non-political... It's starting to look like the classic case of the guy getting his ass whipped in a fistfight, so he pulls a knife, and when he gets his ass whipped with that, he pulls a gun. Some folks can't stick with one subject once they've had their ass handed back to them, so they switch subjects. Keep your knife in your pocket, and walk away from the whiner...even as he/she shrieks about kicking your ass..... |

Wow, Tramp! Pretty soon I'm going to have to stop saying all those mean things about you! Of course you're right. There are plenty of other threads for politics. In this one, we should be talking about why my dealership is not needed anymore. ->ChelleM |

A decade or two that might have been true- BMW riders used to be very protective of the mothership. But take a look at the forums at bmwmoa.org- you'll see quite honest and open discussions about the all too frequent differential failures, etc.. |

But take a look at the forums at bmwmoa.org- you'll see quite honest and open discussions about the all too frequent differential failures, etc.. And there is a healthy dose of folks here who publicy voice their issues in a reasonable manner. The same people are then offered advice on what to do. Some take the advice with good results, some with bad, and some just sell their Buell to avoid dealing things - are perfectly acceptable option for some. You, however, have chosen to ignore advice, cause an uproar, and continue to be miserable and take anyone's advice on the bike or sell it to be rid of it.} |

Buell v BMW analogies are unfair, at best. BMW has been manufacturing motorcycles since 1923 (remember: they mf'd. m/cs before cars) and has enjoyed ample time during which to work thier issues out. That being said, however, Buellgrrrl is absolutely correct in that BMW riders whine with the best of 'em... ....in fact, in my own experience w/my tenure in BMW service mg't., they whine far more so. BMW owners, as a general group (this based upon my firsthand experiences interfacing w/BMW service customers) have far more unrealistic expectations both of their machines and of the associated technical personnel employed by BMW/NA & its dealer network. BMW ridres, by and large ( I know, now I'm categorizing, but its based on a considerable corpus of data) tend toward being anal-retentive middle aged men and women always on the hungry, salivating prowl for opportunities to exhibit their unfortunately half-baked, although somehow self-fantasizing stephen hawking-esuqe mastery of physics to anyone (and, unfortunately, everyone) within earshot. The average BMW owner knows FAR more about the intricacies of his/her machine's mechanicals than does the tech or service manager..and the BMW owner could have been an extraordinary BMW engineer, had the folks back at community college only begun to grasp the sheer genius that he/she had to offer. Do NOT go up against a BMW owner on things technical- they will dazzle you with arcane technical terms and references to pages that exist in no extant BMW technical literature, and they'll argue with the authors that such pages presented, at one time, only to have been torn out by mysterious, shadowy figures with vaguely bavarian accents and the bulges of SIG-Sauers under their waistcoats... OH, it's a conspiracy, you seee...... |
