Aaron...Now that bonneville is over, what about doing some special S-2 sidestands for Jack and myself.....so the bikes don't lean so far over? REX | ||

Rex, All you have to do is remove the kickstand, chuck it in a vise, heat it with a torch then bend it in and forward (slightly). The gray paint on mine was matched perfectly with Rustolium Light Machine Gray (Home Depot rattle can). If you want pics of the bend I can take some and post if you want. If you have a vise and a torch it's pretty easy to do. I should have used my rubber coated dead-blow hammer instead of my bronce mallet - less damage to the paint. But in all it took about an hour to do. I got it bent forward a bit too much, so the end is a bit too close to the ground when the stand is retracted - I've scraped it once in a tight turn riding 2-up with luggage. But won't take long to fix. I tried to remedy this by trimming the rubber bumper, but it wasn't enough. You may also run into a spring fitting issue. The stock spring ended up being much too long for me - you can buy all kinds of springs from MSC Direct. Go for it. Henrik | ||

I like the lean, keeps people from parking too close on the left and makes them nervous when they parked too close on the right. | ||

Josh,I see you have a replacement front fender on your S-2 also.When I crashed mine that was the stinkin replacement I got.Not like the original.I am gonna steal the right one from my other S-2 before I sell it. | ||

Hey Jim that's my S2 and JOsh's RS. :-) You're correct...Buell sent me a Red Snap S3 fender as the replacement. After some investigation, I found out that is what the S2 fender p/n will get you now. No mistake. After some phone calls and email, Buell took care of me once again and I have a correct fiberglass S2 fender on my bike. I've had nothing but stellar support from Buell and they have gone far above my expectations time and time again. I cannot say enough good about the Buell team. (Just don't ask about dealerships hahahahaha)  DAve | ||

Henrik, I did the same stuff on my stand. I discovered with a little trial and error the stock spring will work when you get the bend right. First attempt was the same as yours, too far forward. I bent it back a bit and in slightly more and it tucks up tight to the swing arm. It still leans more than my M2 but way less less than the stock setup. Brad | ||

Are you guys bending it above the spring tab/knob/pin, or below it? Will bending it below the pin work as well? Anybody got a spare kickstand arm they want to part with so I can experiment? | ||

Mike, I bent mine above the spring deal. Right below the squared off pivot section. I think bending it below the spring pin would make it stick out weird. Never even thought of bending it there. | ||

that lean is pretty extreme with bags loaded.....you lean it over to catch and you don't think it will stop.......then you swing your leg up and over and try to push it up straight.......Jack found out how tough this is with all of his camera and clothes gear.....rex | ||

I bent mine as close to the pivot as possible ~ an inch below the square top. It works like a charm, and like Rex said. Load that puppy up and then try to get if off the kick stand  I managed to hook the spring over the edge of the tab usually holding the spring rather than using the original hole (confusing, I know). That puts the spring under quite a bit of tension when the stand is extended, but it works. Now I just need to give it a shot of paint to pretty it up. Henrik |
