Ratlbuell: Great to hear that you are up and back at it. Makes my collapsed lung, 9 broken ribs and shattered shoulder blade look like a scrape. I am exactly two months out from some making me have to decide between the grill of his dodge pickup on a 90 degree corner or a rock patch. Guy did not even stop, my memory gap was much smaller, got up and in a pickup and do not remember anything until rotor blades on lifeflight. Can not wait to get back at it when I find a new ride (check from ins. company is in mail). Great to hear your story of getting back, thanks. |

NW - shattered bones is shattered bones, don't care where they are. It'll take time, but a return to normalcy is on the horizon. One thing I've learned - listen to the docs. It may stretch or pull that muscle a little while you're doing it, but it makes it work again in the end Glad you're OK, and it hasn't turned you off riding. And don't worry - the pickup driver will get his one day! |

Rat, When folks try to be inspirational it comes off as cheesy and false. You *are* an inspiration. The real thing. Thanks and congrats for getting through this with such a positive attitude. And I love the bit about the least graceful part now being throwing your leg over. I'm sure I don't only speak for myself when I say that throwing the leg over is far from graceful even for those of us with All Natural leg parts. |

Atoms - aw, shucks...thanks. No inspiration here, just some guy too dumb to give up riding, lol. And I was hoping that by being "bionic", my (some say pre-existing) lack of grace would go away. Thought I was supposed to come out "stronger, faster", etc. So much for truth in advertising |

Glad to hear you are back on 2 wheels again, I dropped a big inch sportster years ago (over 100mph)slid for freakin ever. glad for leather, and the rest of the gear. Everybody thought I was trying to be a badass with all the leather, but you don't plan on doing the crash and burn thing. Was back on it again the next morning. I'm glad you are able to get back on and enjoy it again, It DOES give you a new perspective on riding. Ride carefull, enjoy the ride, it doesn't get any better than that. |

Mad Doctor - I agree totally. What's the sticker I saw a while back..."don't dress for the ride, dress for the fall". Or something like that. Glad I had my gear on (every time I ride) - despite the injuries, I had NO road rash at all. It all worked, as far as it could (given what I hit at the end, no amount of armor would have helped anyway). Wish I would have just slid....<shrug> |

Ratbuell, Just to add to the congrats about being on the bike again. It was great meeting you and your wife at the Homecoming, and terrible to hear about your crash. I know you are enjoying the feel of being able to ride again. By the way, did you ever tell her exactly how fast y'all were going on the track during the" parade lap"? Bob |
