with ecmspy i was not able to work with maps on my race kit ecm because there were confused numbers in TPS/RPM columns. today i tested the new software on my bike and i was surprised how different it is. first of all it reads correctly those columns and it offers also a lot of things more than the old one ( timing maps and many others regulations). until now i used ecmspy only like tester and diagnostic but to work on maps (fuel and advance) i'm using a "rapid bike" module. my goal now is to use only ecmspy without the R.B. module ...but...this is my problem : my fortune people here told me that i can't put ,when working on fuel maps , numbers bigger than 255 ...so how can i get a 25 % more fuel delivery were values are around 240 or 245 ??? this was just covered before but i missed any exact solution. i'm not using the o2 sensor so only open loop in my case and afv fixed at 100. my idea is to fix the afv to an higher value and than where required changing the maps values... is this correct ??? one more question : i know the normal ( center) position of afv is 100 , if i push it to 120 what it means ??? a 20% more fuel delivery respect 100 ??? anyway this new version is fantastic. i was really satisfied of my "rapid b." (except the fact that for Buell it does'nt make front and rear maps) and here is considered a lot better than others like Power Commander ( a lot more expensive also) but i'm sure after looking at this that working with no by-pass modules will be a lot better and safe , and i will loose nothing regarding regulations respect my module(R.B.) ANY HELP ??? thank you in advance |

i forgot : i want to change the narrow band sensor(stock) that is really useless with a wide band one . who know what kind of sensor i can buy and i can use with my ecm ( using ecmspy) ??? do i need to change some parameters on the ecm if i swap sensor with another one ( wide band)??? bye Alessio |

so how can i get a 25 % more fuel delivery were values are around 240 or 245 ??? You can't. Injector open time will be larger than two revs at high RPM, depending on battery voltage. Regards, Gunter |

different fuel pressure regulator ??? depending on battery voltage higher voltage = injector open time longer or shorter ??? ....in my ignorance i think the battery is always around 12 volts. you cant . injector open time will... so the Rapid bike that now in some cells is asking for 23% more fuel its pure utopia ??? thank you Alessio sometimes i miss the old carburetor. |

"so the Rapid bike that now in some cells is asking for 23% more fuel its pure utopia ??? thank you Alessio sometimes i miss the old carburetor." bigger injectors / fuel pump. |

How do you know you need 23% more ? other qweastion where do you need it. i think in wide open throttle ? did you see the WOT enrichment table, do a full pull on the dyno, change the WOT settings untill your fuel need is filled ( you will need more than 120 HP on the back wheel before the stock fuel injection is not longer suficiant ), than go backwards mapping from there, if you need 23% more fuel in the lower tps regions ( lower than 69 % tps ) i would first check the intake seals, ( i would check theme anyway ) |

the "full pull" has been done today. have no dyno around here the closest one(with competent people) is 5O km from here and even there ...no experiences with buells.... this is what i did to replace the dyno : a Stoichiometric indicator( it shows Air/Fuel Ratio with colored microleds ) connected to a wide band heated o2 sensor. and than i fixed the old plates on for a ride in the street just to have an idea where to start( a criminal way to have a race-only bike dynoed).anyway it seems to do the job ,this is what i found : to stay on the rich side i use a pretty flat map on the rapid bike to modify the race kit original map , it goes from 19 to 25% more fuel and my only problem is at idling ( alarming "red" lean light on the instrument) when i fixed the idle at 2000 rpms it disappeared. at 3000 4000 5000rpms with low tps R.B. map shows around 20 22% more fuel and fuel/ratio is ok . the intake ports were machined and this idle problem appears when the engine getting worm , so ...maybe yes " air leaks" i think you discovered the nature of the "drama" (i hope so) . THANK YOU

IMO an external AFR display is not a reliable source for analysis because you don't see the exact throttle position and the exact rpm at that moment. Furthermore, allmost all AFR displays show a moving average value and therefore add some delay depending on the weighting of the last sample, a delay of unknown duration usually. If you don't use a dyno then feed the WB-O2 voltage into the ECM and run your logs. If adjustable, set the delay close to sample speed, that the O2 signal is delayed by one sample. Regards, Gunter |

hi Gunter what means delay ??? i tried months ago to datalog but i'm not able to find the file of datalogged data in my notebook....i'll try again i'm not a rocket using the computer.... right now at wot and high rpms stock system seems to deliver enough fuel . bye Alessio |

you will need more than 120 HP on the back wheel before the stock fuel injection is not longer sufficient My experience does not support that. it's more of an issue of the Volumetric Effency or VE number than HP. the Micron exhaust works so well that even on a 1250 with Stg 3 heads or a big bore short stroke Stg 3 1208 you will run out of fuel. To correct that just bump the fuel pressure and remap. The down side of that is that down low in closed loop you will have way too much fuel, it's sort of a catch 22. took almost 15 hours in the Box to get a short stroke 1208 good enough to maintain the AFV at 100%. ... Just my experience, Terry }} |

The down side of that is that down low in closed loop you will have way too much fuel This can be corrected by adjusting the fuel pump duty cycle. Regards, Gunter |

what i did is NOT a fine set-up because i used one sniffer for both cyl.s( not only) but finally the bike runs great now .the light of the stoichiometric reader is always on the right place ( to gain some in security i can even lean somewhere) i compared it in a track with other Buells and i'm more than satisfied. only one problem sometimes happens fuel stalls somewhere and the bike turn off , i noticed that a full tank make the difference bye Alessio |
