Has anyone here set up their suspension for racing in accordance with the service manual? If so, is it better? I just set mine up yesterday and haven't had a chance to ride it yet. |

I have done mine to the factory settings for race track and found them to be a little too harsh for my tastes. I backed off the comp and rebound about a 1/2 turn from the settings from the owners manual and that works out good. Course I'm pretty slow and old. PS, I'm running H2s for tires. I have also tried the manuals (race track) settings and found them to harsh (probably not going fast enough) and have much better results using the Battle2win Shawn Higbee settings and tweaking as needed. |

Ok, I've taken it through the canyons and to the mountain with the service manual settings for racing. It handles a hell of a lot better than before. Think I will tweak a little to see if I can get it that much better. |

Dwayne: some recommend picking a stretch of familiar (twisty) road and twiddle the dials (and make notes as you do) and then run the same stretch of road over and over; Start with all dials at recommended settings, then dial out all compression damping in the rear - ride the known stretch of road and see what the bike does. Make notes, set rear compression back to recommended - dial out all rear rebound, ride etc. etc. You get the picture. Doing this and keeping notes will show you what effect the dials really has on different aspects of handling. That experience will help you "diagnose" handling issues related to suspension. NOTE!! Be very careful when you do this, as the bike will start moving in pretty scary ways. Start slowly and don't go crazy. Henrik |
