Rubberdown, how'd ya do at VIR this weekend? me 'n D set out yesterday morning for the track to come root you on, but, well, we ended up sucking down Negra Modelos and 27-ounce Margaritas at a Mexican restaurant in Eden, North Carolina (remind Carlos to tell you the story...), and by the time we finally got to the track it was well after 4 o'clock. that woulda been fine 'cept they still wanted to charge us $30 to get in, even tho there was only one race left. i begged, pleaded and groveled (run with your strengths, i always say), to no avail. even went down the road and called the ticket booth on the cell phone, but the guy wouldn't cave. anyway, we now know how to get to the track (and we also know that we should avoid Eden, NC if we're in any kind of hurry, lest we end up running on Mexican time again...), and it all made for a fun 250-mile adventure ride. please keep us posted the next time you're headed that way. :-):-) FB&D |

Thanks for the birthday wishes! As for the cutting in 1/2 and counting the rings...I'll just fess up. Just take Jim's "estimate" of 21 and double it. Guess I'm double the legal drinking age now! |

Hi, I hope everyone is well. Happy Birthday, in a late kinda way, Kristi. Hope you guys are all doing well. I get email from the IMS show once in a while and I did get another reason for you to choose Greenvile, SC over DC. They are going to have Demo's at the SC show. Anyway glad you are all doing well. Licensed motorcyclists who bring their own riding gear (including helmet) and purchase show admission can test ride the latest bikes and scooters from Buell, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Kymco, Suzuki, Victory and Yamaha. wrench turners; Here is the deal on the Jims Tools Front Fork Compressor Tool P/N: 1776 $403.10 (it is back ordered) Front Fork Leg and Tube holder P/N: 2251 $115.10 (on hand) and a Fork Oil Level gaugeP/N: 920 $31.50 (on hand). Talked to the CHIEF FINANCIAL ADVISER in charge of finances here. We could justify the cost of these tools if there was someone else that was going to use them (not necessarily to help pay) but definitely will use them. I can use these tools for both the FLH that is going to need a 70K service soon and the Uly which is going to need the 20K as soon as I can get the tools here. Again I'm not soliciting $ to fund the project but only a commitment to utilize so that it wouldn't take me 3 years to feel they were worth the cost. Sound off if this sounds like something you would be willing to help me use. |

Tim, You feel like schoolin' others as well? I've always been leery of messing with suspension. SHHHH! Don't tell nobody, but the XT is the first bike I've actually adjusted the suspension on, unless you count adding more preload to the V-Rod rear shocks to compensate for my above average weight. You all always knew I was above average at something, now didn't ya? I'm sure my first foray into front forks would need a little coaching and guidance, but after that I'm sure I'd take you up on the offer to use/borrow the tools. My only problem at the moment is that I don't have a vice in my garage. But that can be fixed in time. I'm sure others here will definitely be taking you up on your offer, so don't just base it off me. I'd be willing to contribute to, even if it is just a meal each time the equipment is used/borrowed. Who else is in? 1313 |

Ferris - You know that Mexican restaurant in Eden has a black hole in it. You always enter on eastern standard time and come out on Mexican time! Tim - I will take you up on your more than generous offer. I like to keep my cost of ownership down, I like to fix as much as I can, on my own. I have both the Uly and the M2 that are way over due for the service. |

Hey Carlos, I think we're all going to save our rubber and kitchen passes for Suches next week. Waiting for new rubber to arrive... And, NO, not that kind... I don't need no damn kitchen pass... 1313 P.S. It must be the Jack Daniels talking as it's taken me 45 minutes to type this post without mis-spellings...OK, maybe 23.6925473... |

You always enter on eastern standard time and come out on Mexican time! Oh hell, a Puerto Rican on Mexican time...what's wrong with this picture? Mel - doesn't look like we're going to make it either. Soccer game is early, but grandparents already have commitments for the day, so no babysitter for us. See you all in Suches! Tim - I will take you up on your more than generous offer. Thanks Tim! Sounds like a C3 suspension event at Tim's house. Pizza and beer on those riding/driving in! |

Jerry, VIR was fantastic! Huge fields, great weather, great racing. Thrilling. I was there for three days. Track day Friday, then three races each on Saturday and Sunday. The 600 middleweight classes were battle zones, just like I like it ... apparently. Interestingly, my best race was the Unlimited GP where most of the bikes were worked literbikes. I finished 12th out of 26 in my class so I thought that was pretty cool. I really felt "on it" in that race. As you know, it was this same course that I witnessed young Toriano Wilson meet his demise not long ago at the AMA Big Kahuna races. He was in my thoughts all weekend. I raced with him this weekend ... see pics... I'm still totally exhausted, did not get home till 10:30 Sunday night. Next .... Daytona Baby, the 25th annual festival of speed ... mid-october. We run the BIG course, virtually the entire NASCAR oval plus an infield section. Thanks very much for the support and your attempt to see the races.

We will have 2 CR's, but no Road Kings or Road Glides. We have the Screaming Eagle Ultra and Fat Bob, a couple of V-Rods, a rocker, a couple of Sportsters, a Street Glide, a Crossbones, and another Dyna and Softail. |

Rubberdown, glad to see you did well. Sorry I could not make it. My friend picked up the MX 360 Sunday, and already has the motor unlocked. Still has great compression. I'm sure he'll have it running again very soon. Take care... |

Sarah is doing great so far, we'll see how the 3rd trimester turns out. I've been getting settled in at the new job, still have a lot to learn. The bonus is that I now have a ~27 mile commute, so the Firebolt is getting regular exercise again. |

I'm now a software developer for Captive-Aire. I did some programming in college and have worked with computers for a few years now, but this is my first time writing code professionally. I still have a lot of learning to do in order to keep up around here, but I really like the challenge of it. |
