Hey, can anyone heading up from the south on Thursday and Friday give us a heads up on gas availability along 75? Hey Sean. Just emailed you back. Give me a call on my cell Thursday or Friday and I'll give you the scoop. |

Greenville area will be better by later week according to the news. I know HWY 123 heading west of Greenville had fuel at just about every station I passed this evening. |

Evidently motorcyclists are NOT welcome. From Sanchez Speaking of Dale's ... it isn't Dale's anymore. Dale spent several weeks away from his business due to health problems. His landlord took that opportunity to boot him and and install the landlord's son there instead. Now, not only is it run by scum, but it's run by motorcycle-hostile scum. Last weekend the new proprietor called the sheriff when he saw a motorcycle with its tire touching the line of the handicapped parking space! Dale was a great friend to bikers in general and many people in particular for years, and we're all really angry about this. I know we probably can't avoid buying gas there (if there is any), but I hope you'll all join us locals in boycotting any other purchases there. Gas stations make little or no profit on fuel, so please support the local motorcyclists by not buying anything else there. Makes me sick it does! I can't believe someone is turning down business. I do however am curious how he'll do without the riders business in his location. People around these parts make do by being friendly. |

Unbelievable! But nothing surprises me anymore. That's a damn shame. I'm heading down there within a couple of hours, from the North side. Check 'yall later. |

Evidently motorcyclists are NOT welcome. It won't hurt my feelings to drive a bit further to buy what I need where my business is welcome. Guess I'll have to explore the area a bit more! Off for last minute purchases, dogs to kennel, service truck, top truck off (not looking forward to that!)...leave in the AM!!!!!!!! |

Dale is a super guy, and I am sick about the way this has developed. I spent a good bit of time in March speaking with Dale about the store, how business was, etc. He said that the "landlord" hated riders and would rather Dale not provide services for them at all. I told him thanks for going to bat for us and that we appreciated his efforts at making a place that was positive for us. He mentioned that he was glad when "riding season" started because his business picked up. Given that, and that there appears to be no gas at the store, I doubt that the new owners will be able to make much of a go of it without motorcycle traffic. Wouldn't it be nice if the landlord had to sell the store to Dale at a deep discount? Let's hope new management develops a raging case of ulcerated anal polyps. |

Interesting development at the gas station. I won't be buying anything but gas, and I'll be looking for any opportunity to confront such shi++y attitudes. It's bizarre to me that anyone would run a business like that. More than likely they'll suck bad enough to just wither away in this current economic situation. Hope they do... with extra polyps protruding painfully. |

I've seen the tempered rage and frustration in the eyes of the folks who live around TWO. IF I wasn't a motorcycle fan and I lived there, I'd likely develop a pretty strong dislike of those who came to my community with a bunch of loud bikes and rode like the roads were a race track. Just saying. It does seem odd that the new store owner would go in with the knowledge that TWO will provide lots of customers and he chooses not to court them. I guess the new store operator thinks he can make a go with of it with his neighbors. I dunno. |

OK- who's heading down Thursday AM, and passing thru Maryville TN/Deal's Gap? Gimme a shout (PM) and let's do a Buell convoy... There's better roads/shorter distance than doing the Dragon, BTW. |

The new store "owner" is the landlord's son from what I understand. The landlord doesn't like riders. I assume that dislike carries on through his son. Does make you wonder if Dale was merely an impediment to creating an opportunity for the landlord son to have a ready made living. I agree that it would be tough as a local resident. I guess you can spend all your time fighting riders and making things as unpleasant as possible or you can cater to the riders and maybe make a little money in the process. I wonder how many of the cabins we rent would exist were it not for the motorcycle community. TWO wouldn't exist that's for sure. There is a balance. It's mostly up to us. |

"Just saying." I absolutely agree with everything you said. As much as I try to have fun in North Georgia, I've started tempering my riding behaviour from what it used to be. It's not a racetrack out there; it's a public road that local people depend on. Pick and choose your places. On a kinder note, last year I passed Sheriff Scott Stephens of Union County on a double yellow at three times the posted speed limit and he still let me go with a warning and a frienly invitation to come back and enjoy the area with a little more consideration for the people that live and work there. It was good advice that I took to heart. |

Most of the locals wont go to the "old Dales" either. Love it or hate it, we ride there, just like the leaf watchers hold up the locals, and the campers, hikers, bicyclists etc.... We are not the only ones... |

This time around will truly be an adventure - I'm coming up on my bike and not in my truck. I've never done a motorcycle camping trip where I had to carry everything up on the bike. Hell... the first time I ever camped out as adult was only last year at the first B'fest. I'm determined not to get reservations at the Holiday Inn in Dahlonega like I've done in years past. I kinda wished I had a Uly now. |

Yeppers, Ft B- I am currently planning the load arrangements on my CityX- wish I had the capacity of that uly. Once I unload and set camp- I'll be ready to roll! DJ- I'm still learning this camping thing, this time around I'm attempting to be self sustaining for cookin'. (I love eating at TWO, but my metabolic needs are irregular.) Planning to set camp by early Thursday afternoon, then do a supplies run to Dalhonega before dark. Keep the rubber side down!!! (Message edited by 86129squids on October 01, 2008) |
