I am reading horror stories about the '03 belts. Getting ready to convert my wife's '03 XB9S, which is a chunk of change. Even used. So here's a question: The original belt has been superceded. (P/N G0500.1AAG) Several times in fact. So as of this point in time... is the most recent part number for an '03 XB9S belt really weaker than the '04+? Another oddity: my dealer says the S and R belts are different. Huh. (Message edited by Red_Chili on October 01, 2008) |

If you visually compare them, you will realize that the 04 is a much better belt. I still run the '03 setup on both of mine and haven't had a serious problem since the newer belts came out. I could change the belt 4 times for the cost of the upgrade and at 60k miles it may not be my primary pony anyway. |

The belts are the same between the R and S. Never go to the dealer with a question like that, as you are relying on the guy at the counter to know. Here you got tons of people that know and can double check! Not that the dealer couldn't check with 5 minutes of looking up part numbers... |
