I've started to get the intermittent shutdown syndrome (06 54k BAS recall not done) thats correctable by cycling the kill switch. I don't have the time right now to get the recall done. Anybody bypassed the BAS successfully? |

Remember the BAS is there for your safety and the safety of everyone around you. |

IMO, the BAS, with its history for failure while riding, is far more dangerous than any perceived problem its designed to solve. To me, the BAS is a solution to a problem that never existed. There have been a number of BAS failures here while riding in traffic.... that's unacceptable, and dangerous. Conceptually, it may seem like a good idea, but so does world peace. . |

OK, so it can be deactivated with ecmspy. Can it be physically removed then? |

Sure, but I would rather you get the recall done instead. While your at it, get a new one as odds are the BAS will keep going off as it was damaged. |

Just curious, do other manufacturers have BAS switches or just Buell? |

Quick Google search for Bank Angle Sensor shows several hits for different Honda models, and people wanting to bypass it, so yes |

I "think" that most FI bikes have a BAS. Some Hondas have had BAS probs too. I have not had a single issue with my BAS. The recall was done b/4 I took delivery. If I was having BAS probs, that the dealer could not solve, I wouldn't hesitate to disable it. (Message edited by m_singer on September 29, 2008) |

One possibility brought up by Buell CS in my case is my not having the ECM spacer block. They thought it might be possible the seat is pressing on the ECM wiring causing an intermittent kill. Symptoms are similar, something to consider. But by all means do the recall and see if you can't get the part working. |
