So I have done some looking and found there are basically two shocks available for this bike. You either go with penske or works. Is there a real difference between the two shocks or just preference?

The Penske is better, but more expensive. I have ridden Works Performance and Penske back to back, my bro has Penske on his S3 I have Works Perf on my X-1. The Penske is great ride quality, supple yet controlled. The adjustments really work also, you can really feel the compression and rebound adjustments. Penske also has ride height adjustment. The Works is good, but a rides a bit harsher and not quite as good of a ride quality overal compared to Penske. But the Works is a lot less $$. I would say if you dont mind the extra $$ and plan to ride your Buell a long time, get the Penske. If you want to stay in a budget, get the Works. Both are still a major improvement over stock. I have 20,000 miles on my Works no problems or leaks, very happy overall.
