So I'm loading my Buell in the back of my truck. I know, I know-that's where the trouble started (loading, instead of riding) but I needed to pick up a part at a customer's shop that I couldn't carry home o the bike. Anywhooo.... while loading the bike, I dropped my Blackberry on the parking lot. It was still okay-soft landing. Finish tieing down the bike, forget about the phone and promptly back the truck over the BB. I knew instantly what I had done. So, I'm now back in the market to replace my BB with either another BB Curve or the iPhone. I went back and reread all the posts back in the end of April when I was trying to decide the first time around (BB vs iPhone). In the 5 months that have passed since purchasing the BB, the new iPhone3G is out and there is a new BB coming out in Oct. I'm leaning toward the iPhone this time around. I liked the BB, full keyboard, push email, web nav, etc. What I didn't like was when an email contained a picture, it never showed it, always had to open it as an attachment. Talking to the local AT&T rep tonight, 3G service will be available within the month here in Altoona. Apparently there is some kind of recall from Apple on the power supply, so there are no 8gb currently available here. I put my name on the list to be notified when they are available. I said all that to say this: What's new (or coming soon) that I need to know before making my decision to drop another chunk-o-change on a phone. |

Too bad it wasnt insured. Hope it dont get too expensive for you. Most of my techno-geek buds are waiting for the I-phone. New toys are always gonna be expensive and hard to get. Maybe just get a cheapy till it comes out? How the heck are you besides that? |

The iPhone's phone function sucks compared to Blackberry. There is a new touchscreen Blackberry to be released soon. I'm going to be in the market again soon. |

You got nuffink ziptab - I hurled my last mobile phone into the Hawkesbury River in 1997. Lovely arcing roundarm. It went about 60 yards. They gawp when the ask for my mobile no and I say I don't have one. Did you loose it? No, I know exactly where it is. |

I have either used or own most devices available. Since iPhone 2.1 firmware came out, it is THE device to own. I have mine connected to a full exchange server. If you are a push user there are a few benefits over BB. Mainly involving lower service costs. BB are a fine device, but in my book I am much happier with my iPhone. Infact I moved all my corporate accounts over, and everyone is happy with the device. Now if we are going to have a discussion on wireless carriers, then my view is a little tainted. Simply put I am not that thrilled with ATT lately, nor am I thrilled with Verizon. In my local market both carriers have overloaded the nextwork. I am tired of getting network busy notifications on both services. |

I'm going to be in the market soon and confess the only thing keeping me from going iPhone is the crummy ATT service in NYC. Verizon is a PITA but the service is excellent. |

I'm thrilled with Sprint, having just switched from the two past years with Verizon. I'm paying an almost identical monthly bill, and receiving a LOT more services. Also thrilled with the BB 8330. IMO it's much more functional and economic that the iPhone. |

I have an iPhone. When people ask me how I like it, I tell them that I never knew I needed it until I had it. It's become an integral part of my life, and using it is intuitive. And with the application store you can find just about any kind of application you can think of - games, weather, programs to track acceleration of your car, etc. It's truly a computer that fits in your pocket. |

"So, I'm now back in the market to replace my BB with either another BB Curve or the iPhone." Try to upgrade to an iPhone from what you have....its costly. I was at Best Buy and to upgrade from my Palm Treo to the iPhone would have costed $500.00. To buy it new and start a plan from scratch would be $300.00. I'm not understanding the logic of that one, but needless to say, I'm still with the Treo 755. |

I've had Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile and Sprint. VZW is by far the best service. They do tend to lock down their devices, though. |

I encountered that same pricing logic with a airline ticket. On American Airlines it was cheaper for me to fly to Orange County CA from NY with a transfer at LAX than it was to terminate the same flight at LAX. They called it the "Direct Flight" penalty! |

Keep an eye out for the Touch Diamond or Touch Pro. Diamond is touchscreen only Pro has a keyboard that slides out (screen rotates). Windows mobile (allowing you to load your own apps), wifi, gps, accelerometer (g-sensor). 640x320 resolution so it's crisper than the iphone (which is 480x320). I just got the Sprint version, but the new TouchFlo3D (the main interface) is pretty sweet. If you have exchange, push works great for e-mail, contacts, and calendar. Sprint has the Diamond out now, the Pro probably next month. GSM versions should be on their way as well with other carriers, or unlocked from places like Best Buy. That's what I would be keeping an eye out for. There are videos of the interface on YouTube...check it out. |

Keep an eye on the HTC Dream from T-Mobile. It will run off of Google's new mobile OS, Android. Follow the link for the article and a video of it working. Best feature is a real keyboard. I LOVE the iPhone, but the virtual keyboard SUCKS. |

I was at Best Buy and to upgrade That is part of your problem. Bestbuy is not the greatest place to upgrade. The employees get shafted on commissions involving upgrades, so they are less than motivated to help. Either contact an ATT, or Apple store. In most cases if you agree to a new 2 year contract they will give you the upgrade price. For those with iPhones, what is your favorite new app? Mine - Bloomberg. To have access to a bloomberg box in my hand it a little addictive. |

XL, the key board took some getting used to, but after 9 months or so I find regular keyboards on mobile devices clunky. Corp, my favorite hands down is the My Weather app. the animated weather radar is to cool, comes in handy for riding and will be very useful this winter for work as I'm a truck driver. |

>>For those with iPods, what is your favorite new app? << Work: My Time - is as 'egg timer' for different customers. Play: Pinball RC Finding iTunes 8 is the flakey-est version yet though. |

Got an Iphone 3 weeks ago. Do not know how I lived without it. Simple to use, push email, etc. Works fast on the web. |

Either contact an ATT, or Apple store. In most cases if you agree to a new 2 year contract they will give you the upgrade price. I only deal with the AT&T store personel. It's the same price at a 3rd party store (BestBuy), but they can't change my service plan pricing or offer any kind of incentives like AT&T personel can. I dropped my data plan while waiting for the iPhone/BB Bold to come in and make a decision then. I don't qualify for any kind upgrade price as I just upgraded to the phone I crushed in May. |
