I bought a 2nd buell to convert to a track bike. It has set for 2 years without being started. I was told that he tried to start it last december, but fuel leaked out from the injector. It's an 03 xb9s. I'm assuming the gas has clogged the injector and maybe more. Here's my plan of attack. Let me know if there's anything else you guys can think of. Change oil in engine and primary. clean fuel system. Not sure how the best way to do it is? replace tires new battery. I may also look into upgrading to the newer belt system. |

spark plugs & wires, maybe a new air filter. I'd take the fuel pump out and clean the filter, drain whatever fuel is left in the system. I'd get a new fuel hose, but that may be overkill. |

Question, has the fuel varnished? IE does it smell like paint thinner? Was the bike put away with fuel stabilizer in the tank? It matters on how to deal with the fuel system. |

You will most likely need a new fuel pump and injectors. |

I'm sure the gas has done bad by now. You will need to clean the pump, injectors, and fuel rail. Probably want to replace the fuel hose while you're at it. And make sure you get all of the old gas out. |

So I got the fuel pump off tonight. The gas was really yellow looking. Like your piss when you're really dehydrated. The fuel pump parts feels a lil tacky. I guess I'll just pull the pump apart and clean it up. I'll do the same with the injectors and fuel lines. |
