I would love to see Track Days that cost less. Do we think that a $50 Track Day is possible? Volume discount? Buell only? Promotion of some sort? Insurance, et. al. still required. Black Hawk Farms is my preference (Wisconsin). I would like this discussion to result in a Summer-Long Series, once a month at Black Hawk. April, May, June, July, August, September, and October. mikeyp |

$50 track days are possible, but compromises would have to be made! Typical cost for a track day are:- Track rental -$1500 is the lowest I've heard of. $4,000 or more is the norm. Corner Workers - say minimum 5 at $50 each to cover expenses. 10 would be better. On Site Medical - Usually $500 for the day/unit. Liability insurance - Typically $1000 per event. Rock bottom is $3K at a rinky-dink track. $6K at most others Divide that by the max number you want on tack and you'll have your price. With estblished organizations putting you on-track for 3-4 hours from $150 a day - with on-site medical care, with airfence at the nasty bends and with the management thats needed for an event like this, its hard to see where you could cut costs. Cutting any of the corners above will compromise safety. The first guy kiled or badly hurt at a $50 event will close it and the track down and drive the costs of the other orgs up. My 2 cents worth. With a valid CMRA racing license, anyone can rent Oak Hill Raceway any day of the week for $75/day. Keith |
