has anyone checked out lhindell brake web sit about composite rotors i was looking at the options and a black anodized composite rotor with black anodized rivets and flame center ring was 500. usd anyone ever used a composite rotor on the street? Or at all? |

I myself would buy a EBC rotor and put the "saved" price difference towards other goodies, but thats just my opinion. |

If I recall correctly from my car days, composite rotors have to be HOT in order to work right. At street temps, you won't have very good braking power or feel...but if you're all track, all the time - can't beat 'em. And they glow in the dark when they're hot |

Carbon Fiber rotors need heat, ceramic ones work well on the street according to ducx1 who has them on his ducati. So I guess it depends on what they are making them from. Since they are offered for Harleys I would assume they are made from a "street friendly" material. I'd have one made if I had the money! |

well i got some high performance organic ebc pads and they suck balls. When they get hot they feel rock hard and they stop working and start smoking after 3-4 blocks of hard braking I will never buy these again. I was just trying to save money for scalloped rotors and new race pads and put these on to get me by. SO DON'T BE CHEAP! |

SO DON'T BE CHEAP! Totally agree! EBC HH pads work great front and rear! I cannot help but think that a ceramic rotor would improve the braking power and fade resistance of our single disk system.... Again I would buy one, along with a Penske rear shock, progressive front springs, gold valve cartridge emulator and an air shifter for the strip.....IF I had the dough! |

I'm using a pair of composite rotors on the street.Mine are CERAMIC though and not the inferior CARBON rotors.Mine do NOT require the "heating" that traditional CARBON rotors do.They were extremely expensive though at $1050 EACH rotor. One of the main reasons for using composite rotors is the reduced unsprung weight. Not sure how much that matters in a bike. They do look pretty awesome though... |

A LOT!! Not a placebo effect either. I dropped about half the weight from the wheels of the original set-up. THey say suspension and eliminating unsprung weight is one of the best tangible effects on performance you can do.The bike in question also got porting,big cams,FI tuning(a lot),and 13:1 adjusted CR from 14:1 which would've been too high. |

I held some ceramic rotors from Brake Tech as the last Cycle World show. I already run their ductile iron rotor on the front of my M2. The ceramic rotor practically flew out of my hand when I picked it up, it was SO LIGHT. It felt like 2 oz, it was totally amazing. I would have bought one on the spot for $1K if they made them to fit Buell tubers. He said they didn't and had no plans to. If anybody finds out otherwise, post here, I will buy a ceramic rotor in a NY minute. |
