Ya DAve and John, you knew I'd see this thread and hafta jump in... Longest day...1,602 miles in 23 hours and forty minutes...St Louis to Jackson Ms to The Big D to OK City and home to STL...Not much else to do but pee and eat in gas stations...Temps ranged from the low 70's in Dallas to 19 by the time I got up to about Springfield MO...Should have turned on the electrics much sooner than I did and I ended up riding Waffle House to Waffle House about the last 250 miles...I was two + hours ahead of schedule half way between Dallas and OK City and had lost all of that time by Rolla MO...But it was a bitchin ride...Pulling onto the Will Rogers Turnpike in Tulsa there was a nice curvy on ramp (first curves I'd seen in about 800 miles) so I poured it on, getting to the top of the ramp going about 80 and there in the median sits a OK statie...I just pulled over even before they turned on the cherries...Older cop, younger cop...The younger one runs my paper and the older one wants to know what the hell I'm doing at 0230 on a scooter...I show him my paper work and explain about a Bun Burner Gold IBA ride...He says do you speed so I show him my max speed of 82 on the GPS and I'd been on a turpike with an 80 mph limit...The young guy comes back and they go talk a bit and come back and tell me than even though I was 40 over on the ramp they were going to write me a 10 over and I thank them...I sign the paper and add it to my documents...A couple of days later I'm getting everything in order to send off to the evil Mr Kneebone and read the OK ticket to find it's only a warning...Thanks Guys!!!... John's saddle sore is kinda unique in that he chose to ride twisty roads part of the time (until the sun went down)...Not too many do that...I didn't...The next IBA ride I want to do is the 50CC where you ride coast to coast in less that 50 hours...Imagine what you get to see on that ride!!! See Ya! Bob |

Just so you all don't think Raceman is a one time hero, keep in mind that he routinely rides 400-500 mile days on any Sunday through the twistiest roads he can find and that's what probably keeps his mileage down...that and waiting at junctions smoking cigis!! |

Vic...I did my SS1000 on a H-D FLTRI, Road Glide, and the Bun Burner on Das Boat, a R1100RT beemer...Sadly, I depth charged Das Boat last April at about 70 mph...Das Boat was a total and I ended up with a sprained thumb...Ya gotta love the Aerostich Roadcrafter...It was hardly scratched...Then a week ago Monday I filled my doe tag with Das Boat's replacement, a ST1300ABS...$4800 in damage to the scooter we call The Mother Ship...If you've ever seen PIAA 910's blazing on a dark night, you know why...I have PIAA 1000's on Pumpkin, my S3T...By the way, Vic, I love the pic in your profile...Was that taken at Willow?... See Ya! Bob |

From home on Legend Lake to outside Paducah,Ky -680 miles in 13 hrs. I set up my tent and went for a little 40 mile ride around the area. All on my '79 KZ1300. The four extra cylinders made it easier to gulp freeway miles but 756 lbs is hard to corner when loaded with another 260 lbs of gear and me.The next day, however,I made less than 300 miles after stopping at Jack Daniels and getting lost on the twolane blacktop.(no, that's not the reason I got lost! Lynchburg is in a dry county!) |
