its not some amazing thing, but its the first decent vehicle(besides bikes) that i have gotten since i lost all my stuff in my divorce a few years ago.

04 tahoe. 81,000 miles. 5.3 v8, 3.73 gears. loaded with almost all the goodies. heated leather. driver memory seat. 3rd row seat. 6 disc bose in dash cd. 9 speakers with factory in console subwoofer. all wheel drive. the body is extremely straight. not even door dings in it except for one dent way at the bottom by the back bumper. underneath and interior are all most perfect also. someone took really good care of this thing.

has all the options except a moonroof, and the dvd player in the back(might work on that). its been lowered 2 inches and a new set of 20's on it. also got the factory 17 inch mags with good tires on it yet.

but you know enough is never enough i ordered some parts to build a dual exhaust for it already and plan on swinging through a few stereo shops on my day off tomorrow(ive got a brand new 1000 watt rockford fosgate amp thats been looking for a home for to long, lol)

atleast my 94 plymouth acclaim can take a break from tow duty most of the time now, lol. but now the rusty red trailer could use some paint so it doesnt look so ratty behind this!

now i just have to figure out how to put some buell stuff on it without taking away from how clean it looks

Wow, that's nice. I've been seeing some really good deals on V8 SUVs lately that look pretty tempting.
That would be real nice to travel to MBVI in.

thanks! i got a hell of a good deal on it i think. it gets around 18 mpg, but its not like i will drive it everyday. most of the week it will just sit. i will be on the bikes during the summer and in the plymouth during most of the rest of the time. just decided it was time for something nice and the price of gas has brought down demand for things like this so price comes down with it.

That would be real nice to travel to MBVI in.

things like that are one of the reasons i wanted a tahoe instead of another truck also. plus with the 3rd row i can drag along more friends!

I love the look of these trucks. Toy hauler indeed, it's got the factory towing package! Very classy in black and I love the look of a completely blacked out one. Sandblast the bumpers, girll, etc and black them out too! My buddy Shaun has a really nice chrome brushguard for sale...

Do a couple things to make your ownership more pleasurable... Change to synthetics all the way around. The 4L60's in these like to eat sunshells in the transmission. There isn't much you can do to stop it, other than installing an aftermarket part if that one were to ever fail. On some of these front differentials, they set the bearing pre-load too high at the factory. There should be a TSB on it and you should be able to locate it on Edmunds.com. It causes the fluid to boil out of the vent hose. In rare cases the differentials have locked up. If not, I can get it at work.

eats sunshells? huh? not sure what you mean. i have replaced a few 700 r4's, but as far as the 4L60's have been around they have been great.

i went looking at stereo components today and found a few things. grabbed a 2 farad capacitor so i can get enough juice to the amp with out starving it as it tries to feed the subs enough power.

think i found some JL subs and a box that will fit behind the 3rd row seat and fires against the rear door.

Tim and the Ghetto Machine, LOL Guy at work has one and swears by it. Rear DVD isnt too expensive now and is nice for the kids when on those long hauls.

Enjoy

Maybe with new paint on the trailer you'll see it next time!

It's the planetary. Chances are if you can't ever get it into reverse, it's the culprit. It's not super common, but when I have to replace one in any of these(any 4L60E) it's usually hardparts. I'd put transmission failure right up there with the Dodges. A common swap is the 4L80E in the 4x4s, unsure of what's required in the AWD trucks or what the difference in the transfer cases may be.

I'm doing an overhaul for a buddy and it's getting a Cryo treated sunshell (old one failed), performance soft parts, electronics(metal crap in the solenoids) and a new valvebody.

lol, bite me!!! hell it was red then, if i paint it, it will be black. oh believe me when i looked back ahead after checking traffic i sure saw it! up close and personal. i still havent figured out why she slammed on the brakes when no one was even close. guess i shouldnt have told her to take it easy.

i am fairly sure i wouldnt have hit it if there wasnt so much sand in the median for my to slide on either.

The 5.3l has proven to be quite solid. For normal driving, and bike hauling the 4L60 should be fine. If you do a lot of heavy towing(especially in the mountains) the 4L60 can have some issues. Regular fluid changes are your friend.

The intakes are plastic, but like Azxb9r said, they're stout motors

Plastic intakes are a good thing for making power.
