I'm drawn to the XB's. I sat on a 2003 XB9R and XB9S Saturday. The ergos on the R just won't work for me, but the S seemed a bit better as I prefer the more upright riding position.

According to the the Buell website, the "redesigned brackets lower footpegs two inches" on the 2004 XB9S.

I am assuming this is in relation to the footpegs on the 2003 XB9S. Sounds good, BUT I understand I have this coupon coming that has to be used before the end of the year. The 2004 XB9S's aren't available yet, are they?

I've got this funny feeling that coupon expiration date and the arrival of the 2004 XB9s's are going to be conspicuously non-concurrent.

I'm really likin' the XB9S and $500 is allot to throw away, but the extra 2 inches could make a BIG difference in the ergos in my favor.

Anyone have any knowledge, suggestions, predictions, solutions, etc?

Thanx,

brad

the 2 inches are in the passenger foot pegs not the riders. And yeah your right the 04 9s and R are not until the new year.
get an 03 and have fun. Take that $500 and use it.

get on your bad motorscooter and ride

I thought I had read somewhere that it was the passenger pegs that had been lowered, but the "features" page on the website shows both the passenger and rider brackets highlighted....?

The inseam here is on the short end of average for my 5'10" but I could flat foot the XB's with no problem, so I don't think I need a Low.

I'd love to do business with either of you guys. I admire your your involvement in these forums and you dedication to your product. From lurking around the Buell forums for a while, I have detected a tangible sense of community among Buell enthusiasts. Even the guys that slam Buell seem to possess a singular dedication to their "craft." It may sound stoopid, but that sense of community is a selling point.

Had a bad experience with a local dealer when shopping for a Blast..I was surprised the guy remembered me when I went to look at the XB's...he said, "Still trying to make up your mind?"..."No, we got a Blast." Even the rusty wheel in his head started turning as I could see his deduction that They didn't get it from me Wonder why they still have brand new 2002 Blasts and several flavors of XB's collecting dust in the showroom?

But I digress....

Thanks for the responses, guys.

I test rode both a Low and a reg. It's personal preference. I'm 6', and I preferred the low. It feels more like you are sitting in the bike rather than on top of it. You know, "at one with the machine." I bought the Low. Like I said, personal preference.

I am 6'1". I bought the Low S because it was a good price - $7600 for a 2003, I haven't had any comfort problems up to 100 miles so far. I am figuring on getting a standard seat if I experience any discomfort in the future

It's raining Firebolts...

I can put my hands on at least 6 2003 XB9R's (three white and two blue) in a 100 mile radius...with half of them selling for $7995.

But it ain't Lightning...

Only one XB9S to be seen...wrong color (black) and too expensive ($9200).

I did come across a new 2002 X1W selling for $8995. I have a feeling someone would like to know about that. Never seen one before...sharp looking!

None of the three dealers I spoke with have heard anything about the $500 coupon deal and looked at me like I was crazy. I actually found some Buell T-shirts!

Looks like I am heading out of state if I pursue this further.

BradJ: I kind of had the same problem when I bought the XB9R. I rode it for 3 hours on a demo, and found that it was not as uncomfortable as thought. I found out later it had the touring seat. I later purchased the S riders pegs and it mad a world of difference. They were only $25.00. The 9S pegs are only 1/2 inch lower, but it makes you feel you are on a different bike. . I'm sure the dealer would accommodate you if you were serious about purchasing a bike. PS. Don't get the 2004 R, it has white wheels, unless you really want to clean them daily. - My last two bikes had white wheels, WHITE WHEELS NEVER AGAIN!!!

Just for the hell of it, I navigated to cycletrader and searched for 2003 Buells (didn't enter any key words like XB etc.). There were 6 pages to navigate, with very few Blast showing up. I'd look for a used puppy if I were shopping and let the other guy take the bigger hit. Of course I'm not saying there were a lot of used ones on cycletrader either.
