My diablo's are about done, and its time for new rubber on my bolt. Really looking at the stradas as I mostly commute to work on the bike and want to get some more mileage out of them. Anyone else running them and what do you think of them? | ||

I just put them on after running Road Attacks for a long time. So far no complaints, still waiting to see how far they will take me. Got 6-7K on the attacks. | ||

I wouldn't do it. I had a set of Diablo Stradas on a street Motarded Honda XR650 before I got my XB9 and ran right off the edge of the rear tire and almost crashed while running in the twisties. Changed it the next day. The tread doesn't wrap around the edge far enough for serious leaning. Just food for thought. | ||

don't they have the same profile as all the other Diablo tires? I had the pegs down at the track day last weekend and the tires didn't look like they were getting all the way to the edge. | ||

Food for thought...I have a set due here tomorrow. I check them out before I mount them. Going on my STT. To replace the slap worn out Syncs! Found out that when the Syncs start to go better buy a new set THEN as they go fast. The handle really went away almost on one ride. | ||

I've just taken off a rear cause I wore out my normal Diablo front. Front was knackered and rear had about 40% after 9,000km but got a great deal on Pilot Powers so running those instead of replacing the front with another diablo. I would have to agree with the profile statement made further up concerning extreme edge grip. I considered it due to a profile mismatch between the front I was running so have never bitched. On full tilt I have experienced sliding and could never get rid of the chicken strips about 1/4 inch all the way round. I have no experience with the fronts, taking into consideration my riding style I think I'd probably push it. | ||

My Diablos are about ready for a swap -- 10K miles give or take, I'm very happy with them. I think I will go with the Stradas as replacements as well since I spend a lot of time on the highways and not as much as I would like on the twisties. Buellybob, you might want to adjust your body position while cornering -- XBs don't have to lean very far over to get deep and fast in corners compared to metrics I've ridden but I notice many Buellers don't take advantage of this and lean way far over in corners. Well I've got some Stradas on order. I love my diablos, but using the bike to commute I've got to get more mileage out of the tire. If I'm remembering right these only have about 5-8k on them. I considered the Michelin pilot powers, and the Dunlop roadsmart, but given how my past Pirellis grip I'll give them a shot | ||

-=shrugs=- I love the Stradas on my Uly...I never really understood the emphasis placed on chicken strips. They don't necesarily indicate the speed you're carrying through a corner, since leaning over can be substituted with hanging off the bike. I'm generally more comfortable hanging off the bike to carry speed than pushing the bike down farther. The Metzelers on my Firebolt are about dead, and they'll be replaced with Stradas this winter, I'm thinking. I'm in the same boat - I simply don't do enough serious sport-riding to warrant the softer, much shorter-lived tires. (Message edited by darthane on September 11, 2008) | ||

I ordered a set of Stradas, and a fellow Bueller spooned them on my 12S for me two weeks ago. I like them! I came off a set of Avon Viper Sports that were into the wear bars @ 4,500. I've been commuting on them daily (25 miles r/t), and one canyon burn (been busy!). My observations: Stradas ROCK in the wet! Had to ride in a pretty good storm @ freeway speeds the other day. No drama. The carcass seems "stiffer". What I mean by this, is that I can feel more bumps even though the pressure is the same that I ran in the Avons (34/36).  They turn in NICE. Just a touch quicker than the Avons did when they were new. They don't track grooves or get squirrely over bricks (got a lot of brick pavers in downtown Denver - wide crosswalks). Nice and smooth. They seem to warm up MUCH faster than either the stock Dunlops or the Avons. Didn't need much break-in time either. We scuffed them in doing some figure-8's in the parking lot right after mounting. Get 'em warm a couple of times - good to go! I have only put on about 400 miles since new, but they seem to wear well. There was a large "whisker" in the middle of the rear tire (thicker than the normal "tire whiskers") that I did not clip off when new. I was using this as sort of an indicator as to how fast the rubber would wear. It took about 300 miles to disappear. I think that they'll wear well. I'm hoping for about 6K. As always, YMMV. I think you will be happy with them!  |
