I've been riding an '03 9R for about 2 months now; bought it with 5500 miles, and have gleaned much info from this site. Thank you all for your expertise. I primarily commute with the bike, and generally don't go on any extended rides. I've had an occasional stumble and/or backfire problem that was unpredictable. The bike came with a Dobeck TFI installed, and I was sick of screwing with it, so I returned it to the initial settings. Yesterday, it backfired again. I'd had it. After a few beers to calm my nerves, I decided to remove the TFI and just go completely stock. The last thing I removed were the leads to the 02 connector. As I was disconnecting them, I heard a mild metallic "chink." I immediately stopped, checked for anything obvious with a flashlight and mirror, and then moved the wires around a little. The sound eminated from the 02 sensor, which after closer inspection, was backed out almost two full turns! It's anyone's guess how long it's been loose. Anyway, after checking every damn nut and bolt on the entire bike, it's running GREAT. Rode it last night, this morning to work, and on lunch with no issues. I left the TFI removed, and will post it for sale if anyone is interested. From the Dobeck website, it appears that they make one model for Buell, period. |
