I'm looking into buying a 2006 xb12scg and I'm 6'3" tall, is this bike too short for me? | ||

If you swap the low seat for a standard seat it'll be exactly the same as the standard when riding it. Standing over it while stopped you would notice a difference in height between the cg and standard. The cg has slightly less lean angle due to the .8" suspension drop. (the rest of the height reduction is in the board..err...I meant to say the low seat). Many will tell you the standard's suspension is better on craptactular bumpy pot holed roads due to having more travel than the cg. They are correct if they are truly referring to seriously messed up roads. Ones that are all potholes strung together by huge enormous buckles in the road from tree roots growing up. There is only one road that I ride that sometimes makes me wish I had gotten a standard over a cg. Only one out of many, many. It is a seriously messed up road. No bike or cage likes the pitfalls of this little ribbon of what could potentially be an awesome road if they would only tear it up and repave it. Everywhere else I ride, the cg's lesser suspension travel is a complete non issue. | ||

Thanks MS, I really want to try out the difference in person, but finding the bikes around me is nearly impossible. I'm in the process of buying a used bike from across the country. So it sounds like it would really be too cramped for my longer legs. | ||

If it's a really good deal, pick it up! If it turns out to be too short for you I will *guarantee* someone around here with a 12R that will be more than happy to swap suspensions with you. If you can get a standard height bike for the same price... You might want to go that way. Merlyn | ||

Savages, I have an Ss and my wife has a cg. She is 5'2" and needs a shorter seat than it came with to ride comfortably. I am 5'10" and riding her cg feels like riding a minibike compared to mine! It's difficult to shift gears on hers for me because my knees are bent so much. It is pretty short. Mine is much more comfortable for my height, and you're even taller! I would sit on both before you make your decision. | ||

You will find your boot tips dragging if you don't put the balls of your feet on the pegs, which means adjusting how you go into a low leaning turn. 2009 XB12Scg |
