Hey guys, I have an 03 xb9, and I'm putting a 06 xb12 motor in it, has anyone done this before? should I use the xb12 wiring harness? I'm gonna swap ECM's too of course but what else should I be heads up for? thanks |

I think the only difference is the 12 harness has a wire for the exhaust valve controller. |

If you have ecmspy you should be able to adjust the ecm with the 12 parameters. Flash the 12 fuel and timing maps along with Lowering the rev limits. There may be more, but you'd want to compare side by side each window in ecmspy. |

9 harness should be fine. |

your 9 header is smaller (in dia.) than the 12. If the new motor doesn't have one, I'd look into that. |

I've got a Micron to put on. I also need to use my xb9 heads, I know they'll fit but will the 12 throtle body fit? are the ports the same size on both heads(9&12)? will the 9 harness work with the 12 tps & injector plugs? thanks for all your responses it really helps. |

I've understand you can use the 9 pistons in the 12 motor for higher compression and more power. You'd need to look into custom dyno tunining tho. |

The bore is the same on both engines. The only difference in the dimensions is the crankshaft stroke. The throttle body should fit with no problem. +1 what X1_cheese said. Put the 9 pistons on since you have the heads off. All that stuff should work just fine, but I have to caveat and say that I am NOT a professional motorcycle mechanic or Buell engine builder. |
