'00 m2 12,xxx miles. went riding today and 'lost' first and second. limped it home seems to slip out of third also,goes into a false neutral. clutch is fine. too disgusted to even look at it right now- but any quick thoughts as to what may have happened? shifts fine 4th -5th up and down.wont go below 3rd there is no noise no nothing,just wont go in. its like i'm already down in 1st, but its actually in third. |

the false neutral sounds like a broken detent clip - easy/cheap fix but a pita to get to. mine was not so much slipping out of gear as it was not shifting into first or second. when you pull the primary look for the broken clip. |

Sound like the shifter pins backed out of the shift drum. Very fixable. |

Be sure to check the knowledge vault. Should be lots of info there, and with the manual in hand you should have no problems. I would guess about 4hrs, give or take. And you may be able to do like we did w/ironhead Sportsters and just lean the bike over on its side and dig in. We didn't even drain the trans to work in there. Just be sure to check your trans fluid level when the whole thing is back together. |
