went for a putt yesterday, and my rear tire took a crap on me. the Good: 100+ miles from home, 1 1/2 hours from closing, and the shop (Appleton,WI. HD) still got me in. the Bad: no Diablo T's in stock, had to go with the ULY tire.(scorp sync) and i hate having someone else work on my bike...feels like somebody's kissing the ol'lady while i'm not around. no BadWeb discount, either. the Ugly: less than 4400 miles on a rear tire, and it starts to come apart??!!?? is this normal? now i have a diablo T on the front, and a scorp sync on the back. i took it pretty easy on the way home, and it felt fine, but now i'm a little worried about how the bike will handle at "full lean" i was just starting to get the feel for the diablos, as they are (were) my 1st set of "high performance" tires. all my other bikes have had the hardest, highest milage tires i could find, because i'm a cheap bastard. i have, however, learned to love sticky tires, despite the price. sooo...the question is, how well does the sync stand up when compared to the diablo? should i buy another sync for the front, or should i stick (no pun intended) with the diablos? | ||

Yes, depending on the tire, that is a reasonable mileage to expect. should i buy another sync for the front, or should i stick (no pun intended) with the diablos? I mix and match tires and have never had issues. If it were me, I would just ride it. Obviously it isn't me, so you have to factor your own risk/rewards in. | ||

For what it's worth, I run Continental Road Attacks which give me 8-10k miles on the rear. I don't know how they compare to the Diablos, but I don't like changing tires every 4k miles. I've never felt like they lacked grip, but I'm not dragging Uly pegs either. | ||

FWIW, I got almost 10K out of my Metzeler Sportec M1s awhile ago... and that included one day on the track with Keith Code's California Superbike School... | ||

I get about 2000 miles out of a rear tire.... Diablos/and Michelin Pilot powers both. | ||

My bike Stt came with the Syncs front and rear and while I'm no great rider I haven't anything bad to say. They stick very well and I only have about 1/4" of chicken strip on them. HOWEVER they they are "gone" at 6000 for the rear and 9000 for the front...and I ride easy for the most part. | ||

Scorp Syncs are plenty sticky. I've got ~1/4" chicken strip in front and zero in the rear on my Uly. They do well in the rain too. I haven't been able to wear out a rear yet; got a 2" gash in the first one from a piece of steel in the road at 4000 miles. Ran over a screw or something with the second one at ~4500 miles and it wouldn't hold a plug. On the third one now and approaching 5000 miles. I think I'll get 7500 or so out of it. | ||

Just get a Sync for the front. From the sounds of it they would be a good compromise tire for you. I had no issues with mine. Good stuff. | ||

I got almost 8k out of my rear Scorp Sync. Front is still going at over 8k I'm expecting 9k-11k | ||

The Scorp Syncs are my very favorite for the Uly. The turn in and stability is great. Very sticky all the way to hard parts and good in the rain too. I can get 3K on a rear before it's toast. We don't have many straight roads and I like spirited riding. | ||

Just get a Sync for the front. From the sounds of it they would be a good compromise tire for you. I had no issues with mine. Good stuff. +1, If you got 4400 out of the "T" front then you got your moneys worth imo. Start fresh with "his and hers" Syncs and start your love affair all over again!  | ||

I was at 5000 Miles when my Diablo T rear needed replacement (08 12R). I replaced front and rear with Diablo Rossos, I haven't been able to scrub them in yet as the bike is in for its 5k check up(I had other issues needing to be looked at so I took it in for the 5k too). Going for a good ride Sunday, hopefully they will be scrubbed enough to have some fun once I get to the main event one specific highway, up and down a mountain side with miles of twistys. |
