Hey I've got my VDSTS program loaded on the laptop and cable hooked to the plug behind the triple trees and been playing but can't seem to get the program to do much....tried googling for instruction but no luck...got no instructions with the kit. Anybody got experience with it and could help out a VDSTS numpty. Trying to do a TPS reset.

do you have comunications to the ecm if not it does little.

goto the screen with the big round meters connect and start the sled. you should see animated meters moving as conditions change.
When you get that then click the motor icon (IIRC) and you can get the tps reset.

BTW look on the disk and in the KV there are posts that outline operation of the software.

OK first off have you downloaded the latest version of the software from their site?

Second, I don't know why but this always works for me, once I plug into the ECM I run an active test; IE Fuel pump, coil or tach to get connected, and then go from there and reset a TPS, AFV or anything else I am doing.
For some reason I always have to do this the first time I connect to any bike/same bike...

The VDSTS software requires the system to reconnect EVERY time you change a function so watch the bottom of the screen for the connect/disconnect message. It will sometimes prompt to turn the key on and off. First thing you need to do is make sure that the software actually "sees" the ECU by going to (depending on software version) an icon at the top of the screen that will "discover" your ECU. If it doesn't you need to check the connection menu and adjust com settings and try to discover the ecu again. Once that is connected, you're good to go. Make sure you read and follow instructions exactly (there is a practice exercise that you may want to run through) before you commit to the reset. Once you've done it once, it only takes a couple of minutes to do it. I did it this past weekend. One other thing, if you're going to fool with it for a while, pull your headlamp fuse so you don't kill the battery.

Cool I'm gonna try again tonight when the kids go to bed. I assume the bike does not need to be running just the key turned on to do a reset?

Thanks for the help.

After you do the reset, you'll need to run the bike to warm it and set the final idle. You can approximate it tonight, but you really need to warm it up and properly set idle.

which cable do you have? According to Al Lighton (american sportbike)if you don't have the correct cable you will have a hard time getting and keeping connected. there were 2 or 3 differnt cable options for this system. I have one and it is a PAIN IN THE ASS to keep connected. Al told me i had the wrong cable and assured me the right one would fix it. i Haven't bought a new cable, it was cheaper to download ecm spy and build a cable. Could never get my VDSTS system to run in real time or diagnosis for more than a few seconds. My ecmspy does great
