OK so I am going to paint my 05 xb12r which is blue and amber.I am thinking either satin black over the blue and leaving the amber. The other way I could go is to paint the blue gloss white and leave the amber wheels and screen.I am going to black everything out on the motor and black out all the silver either way I go.I would like some input also if someone could photoshop for me I would really appreciate it.The pics below are of the bike which I took apart today "the pics are in the living room the wife hates it XD"

See if someone will trade plastics with you before you paint. |

Man, it's beautiful the way it is, I wouldn't touch the colours. Ha, when we were first married my race bike was in the kitchen. It became the condiment shelf between practices and races. I rebuilt an engine in my mum's dining room, groundsheet on the carpet. Worked okay 'til my brother walked through, got oil on his shoes and on to the living room carpet. Used hand cleaner on the carpet and ended up with clean spot/footprints that showed up the rest of the carpet. My brother and I each had to pay thirds on a new living room carpet. Just thought I'd share. I'm jealous of your amber wheels. |

Thanks Iamarchangel my favorite part about this color is the wheels to be honest.I dont plan on taking any motor parts off till I push the bike on the back patio which would mean I have to go through the kitchen to get out the back so hopefully I wont hurt the bamboo wood floors.I threw down some carpet remnants just to be safe though. Thanks for the pic bads1 after seeing it I dont think I would go with just white if I do I would have to put some pearl on it.I am going to go see my friend at PPG hes a paint rep and see about picking up some amber pearl so either way I can put that on to dress either color up. |

Amber as a pearl effect in white could make the white look very muddy or antique looking unless in very bright sun. |

I like the white and amber. Very unique. Don't do black, that's what we all do; stand out! |

OK so I went and seen me friend at PPG today and he basically told me what Bads1 said that amber pearl and white arent the most attractive thing. He gave me a couple bottles of different PPG dry pearls he had "laying" around the warehouse.Heres the different kinds he hooked me up with//PRL88-Orange pearl//PRL91-Green pearl//PRL92-Frost Blue pearl//PRL93-Tincture Gold pearl//PRLX1-Crystal Red pearl//PRLX2-Crystal Silver pearl//PRLX3-Crystal Gold pearl//.I know these bottles are 86 dollars a pop so he really hooked me up as we are friends and ive bought alot of custom paint off him in the past.So I think I am more confused now then before as know I have all these and I know they will look great on white?More opinions please... Also thanks Mudshuvel319 and Firebolt32 for the pics. |

No prob...that Frost Blue may look pretty sick. The orange pearl with orange rims would stand out nice as well. |

OK so I just talked to a very good friend of mine and he is one of the baddest painters in the area specializing in custom motorcycle paint.Me and him are meeting this weekend to collaborate on a paint scheme.Im thinking if I combine a few different pearls like frost blue and crystal silver I will get a sick look over the white.Hopefully by this time next week she will be ready to assemble. Also he stunts the 2003 xb9r I sold him which was my first buell and he has videos so hopefully I will get some to post here. |

Saint that pic above is pearl with silver and blue. Thats what it'll look like. But probably not as brilliant on the account the above was painted with House paint. |

Wow! White & gold is pretty damn hot. Especially with the dark grey XB12 frame. Who woulda thunk it? |

OK just got back and hes going to be painting it immediately. So hopefully in the next few days Ill be able to post some pics before I put it back together.I was going to take the rear hugger/mud guard off and paint it white also but I cant get it off.It looks as though I need to remove the rear wheel to remove it?If anybody knows a way to remove it easier I have till tomorrow to remove and deliver it otherwise it will stay black. |
