xl, at least your working. for the third time since i got back into piping design/drafting, the company i was working for lost work and there was a lay off. been outta work for two months now of which i thought i was going back to work for the one company but once again they lost the one job and the other got put on hold. and unless i get some new training for 3d pds or pdms, my career as a draftsman is in the crapper. i spent most of my life as a union carpenter and for the most part enjoyed what i did but my body doesn't want to deal with it anymore so i don't have that desire anymore. at least your young enough to change careers without it effecting everything around you. go find something along the same lines or just a little different from what your doing now and see what happens. |

Mark, Have a gander at the Huntsville, AL area. That is if you would like to remain in the tech area, and are up for a complete relocation. Huntsville has pretty much the largest collection of high tech companies in the South East. Earning is good, and cost of living is relatively low. |

Tedda - I don't get the impression that she's insecure - she never has a hard time saying what's on her mind. Maybe she's just really good at overcompensating? Paraniod I might see - she has a tendency to assume the worst in some situations where if you ignore most of the facts it might seem like someone is out to get her. Slow - I'll have to think about that... I don't have a problem with relocating, but I've never even considered Texas (mostly it's been stay where I am, move to Blue Ridge mountain region, or the Bay Area, CA). Let me do some checking into the area before I send you a resume - don't want to waste anyone's time. Never - Absolutely. Knowing how the economy and how the general job market is, I'm extremely greatful that I'm at least employed and earning a good living. Sorry to hear about your situation. R.A. Tyson (see, I remembered) - I'll check into it. Geographically it's close to where I'd like to be (I really like the Greenville, SC area). Dave - I think you're totally correct. This has been a situation where I know what I should be doing, I just need to work up the cojones to actually do it. I know what I love, what turns me on and gets me going. Now I just need to find a way to make that stuff put some money in the bank. Thankfully, I have an amazing woman who understands everything I'm trying to work through, and is willing to relocate with me if needed or wanted. |

huntsville isn't that bad of an area. my oldest brother lives in madison so to speak.(has a house there) he's a job shopper also and is up in the cleveland area right now. i will go where ever i have to to get a job though. right now i'm waiting to hear about a job up around reading PA but it's a direct job and i really like the greenville SC area also(which is where i'm still at until i find out where the next job is) 1200, good luck on what ever you decide and i can't blame you at all for wanting to be in the greenville area. besides, we need more buellers in the area although the closest dealer is like 70 or so miles away |

"hit her in the pooper", I don't think I have ever heard you so politically correct. Must have been a strain. (Message edited by hammeroid on August 19, 2008) |
