Soooo... I *may* have a deal in the works that will score me a XB9SL suspension for my '06 12R (including the lower triple)... Everything I have been able to find indicates it's identical to the XB12Scg suspension, so I am good to go on fitment as near as I can tell. I do have a question for you folks though: I checked the specs, and the Scg claims the same lean angles as the 12S (and 9SX) (42 degrees to soft contact) If this is accurate, then I should have the same "lean angle to soft contact" on the 'Bolt with the new suspension bits, correct? Except this makes NO sense. I am going to be giving up over an inch of ground clearance with the new suspension. It seems reasonable I would (best case) have the same soft contact angle at that point as the S models, since they have 1" lower pegs. It won't matter on the street, since I very seriously doubt I am carrying 42 degrees of lean angle even up in the mountains. I *know* I don't hit 47- My untouched pegs tell me so :: chuckle :: However, if I start doing track days it may well become an issue- so I'd kinda like to know before I dig something into the pavement. If you are a pretty "enthusiastic" track rider I suppose the lean angle sensor might be a problem on the track and if it's a concern you can disable the BAS using the ECM Configuration feature in ECMSpy. But if you bin the bike on track or road and it ends up lying on its side with the throttle wide open you might wish you hadn't disabled the BAS. |

:: chuckle :: Enthusiastic? You betcha! Good enough to have to worry about the BAS? Not a chance. Realistically, worrying about "only" having 42 degrees of lean angle available before touching the pegs down is probably a non-issue. I simply ain't all that cool. Still curious though! If all else fails, I can always mount the suspension and see if I start dragging things :: grin :: Merlyn |

Hard contact is the same so you may drag the pegs a tad sooner but you'll drag the cases at the same rate as the standard Don't foget that the Scg like all the S models have pegs that are 1" lower than the R models. If you're still using the regular Firebolt pegs I reckon it'll be about the same lean angle as a standard S. (Message edited by metalstorm on August 17, 2008) |

I converted my '04 S to an Scg a few years ago. The only thing I do not like about it is that my feet/pegs do tend to hit sooner than before. I am going to get some R pegs and see what that does for me. I don't want my legs to be too cramped either. |

The reason the hard and soft lean angle contact points are the same on a standard height and low or cg bike is because they calculated it using the worst case scenario, and that is with the suspension completely bottomed out. |
