Ouch. I was re-watching the "Trippin' on Two Wheels" Ulysses episode tonight on my DVR and was impressed at one of the riders, Neale Bayly, totally bombing across a beachy stretch at what must have been 30-40mph.
That show still cracks me up. No mention of the engineering and design of the bikes whatsoever. At least they seemed to like them.
It wasnt the turning clock that got him, he over corrected coming out of the corner, his front tire crossed up the opposite direction. He was drifting to the ditch and stuttered, standing the bike up. And if you look carefully you will see that he is leaning into a corner on dirt, good for street bikes, bad for dirt bikes.
Lt Mitchell could neither see the dirt wash out, nor anticipate the terminal velocity stall. His record will be cleared of this incident and he will be returned to Rider status effective immediately....
The guy in the helmet is the platform director for VRSC motorcycles, the big guy is Paul - H-D's road captain in Aus and the marketing and PR crews for Harley.
I'd just put the street rod in a ditch and done a 'Bar Fly' into that embankment in the background at 30mph.
I was that pissed off with myself I picked the bike up out of the ditch on my own and had it going again by the time they all stopped.
