So I bought my fire bolt a little under a year ago and I have put over 16,000 miles in that time I will probably be close to 18,000 when I do hit 1 year. So my question is how many miles do you think a XB is good for before it becomes unreliably. Keeping in mind I will go on long hides including out of state rides. Thanks everyone | ||

With proper maintenance and care any vehicle will last for a million miles plus. Granted this would include an engine overhaul or two, a few clutches and possibly a transmission rebuild, but there is no reason the bike shouldn't out last you. In my expreiance nothing happens overnight, as long as you know and take notice of the ealry warning signs and replace/repair parts before they are broken your bike will continue to be reliable. I'm hoping for at least 25 before a rebuild. By the time a rebuild comes, I'll have enough spare parts to rebuild from scratch. | ||

Your right but I don’t want to have to worried about blowing the transmission when I am 1,000+ miles from home Most trans problems come on slowly. Besides, How often are you 1000miles from home? | ||

My Buell has close to 18k now. When I bought it it had 9k (Jan of this year). Doesn't have one leak. Solid as a rock. **knock on wood** | ||

I was talkin to a guy that had a few bikes. From ricerockets to domestic. Water cooled to air cooled and what this dood was saying is that air cooled bikes seem to have a lifespan of around 30k miles. This feller was admiring my xb9s '03 which has 12K on it. For some reason a lot of people seem to flock around to throw friendly comments toward buells I have noticed. I appreciate it but it gets kinda old after a while. Maybe I shoulda gotten a moped to attract less attention. Anyhow I hope this helps you I believe its approx 30k ish duno bout what these other guys are dreaming about   | ||

Oddly enough the last 2K or so the valve noise has gotten quitter and is running vary good. Next year I would like to buy an 1125 and make the XB a track bike (I know a buell with 35 to 40K will not be worth much any way) although if work does not pick up that will not be happening. | ||

Only 5K here but I'm gonna need an under warranty valve cover leak fix soon. My TT needs a diaper. Hope this isn't the norm. Other than that, at 5K the Mobil1 20W50 is still clean enough to see through...pretty amazing for an air-cooled bike. | ||

I'm hoping to get at LEAST 75K out of mine. I'm over 25K now and she runs like a top. I definitely do not baby my bike either. Spag...... you need to talk to someone else cause that guy has his head up his arse. 30K might have been the case for aircooled engines 30 years ago but is DEFINITELY not the case now. | ||

dood was saying is that air cooled bikes seem to have a lifespan of around 30k miles. Glad I didn't know that when I took my Uly with 27k miles on an 8k journey across the country last year. It's got about 48k now. I just put 3k miles on it with a trip up to Minnesota. Things do wear out on these bikes. The engine doesn't seem to be one of them. | ||

Air cooled BMW's routinely go 100K without problems so the H-D should be similar. | ||

I 40,000 on my XB9 including a lot of track and road race miles. I'm betting 75 to 100,000 miles are possible. Keith | ||

Ya wow. It better get more than 30K! If thats the case I will have to buy a new bike every few years! lol! I'll let you know.....Im riding mine till it blows up, then I'll get a new one...... 25K on it now and it runs like new! I love my bike! |
