Hello everyone. I've been lurking around for a while, thinking about buying an 1125. I finally did a couple weeks ago. Lots of fun. Way different than my Bandit 600. lol. Anyways, the coolant in my reservoir keeps disappearing. There are no puddles or anything, and no leaks that I can see. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm dropping it off at the dealer tonight. I have been slowly taking things off and learning just how the bike is put together at my own pace. Tonight when I saw the coolant reservoir I also noticed that the coolant was a bit low. I am going to call the dealership tomorrow as well. I saw no leaks, and the cap was a bit loose, so maybe after a refill it will be good to go? I think maybe when I bought the bike maybe one of the techs didn't push the res cap in all the way when they did their pre sale fluids and bike adjustment. I dunno, maybe the Buell Fairy has been visiting my garage late at night and getting tipsy on liquid cooled sip! | ||

My res was almost empty when I 1st checked it. I've topped it off twice since with distilled water and Water Wetter and it seems to have stabilized. I think the Water Wetter cut down on how much boiling I got inside the system and cut down on the over-flow. | ||

Mine was also low the first time i checked. first check was at 3000 miles. i'm pretty sure if there was an internal leak in the engine i would have seen it in the oil or exhaust by now. i'm not real concerned. | ||

I just took my bike to a shop to have it race wired  And the tech went over the bike for me. He made mention that the radiator lines are loose.... HMMMMM and my levels where very low. I am , through his suggestion replacing the OEM lines with stainless. Maybe this is the reason why we are loosing coolant and not noticing it so much because of the flimsy stock lines. Just a .02 but makes some sense to me............ | ||

Unless the hoses were not sized correctly for the fittings in the first place, or as you allude, poor quality rubber. I haven't had any leakage from my 1125 yet, but I'll keep a eye on it. | ||

Could be that the systems are coming from the factory without being completely/properly bled (trapped air) | ||

With the OEM lines off now .The rubber pieces in the middle of the hoses are quite flimsy and not seated well.... IMO | ||

I checked my overflow when I first bought it. I now have a little over 700 miles. (It hasn't been in yet for the 620) I checked it today and the overflow was completely empty. There was fluid in the radiator though. I topped off the overflow and we'll see what happens. I'll bring it up to the service guy when I take it in. | ||

Got my bike back last night. They did the recall, changed the battery (apparently it was bad) and said they couldn't find a coolant leak. Now the battery idiot light comes on. lol. Oh well. I'll ride it and see what happens. | ||

Every time the dealer has my bike I deal with the battery light...I am now in the habit of putting it on the tender overnight anytime the dealer touches my bike. I believe they plug the bike into the digital tech with the bike on but not running and it draws on the battery... | ||

Not 100% sure but it looks like you have to take the throttle bodies off the bike to connect the hose that runs from the thermostat to the upper left radiator. Thermostat sits between the jugs it seems....what a project to do that. | ||

Me too Mine was also low the first time I checked it. first check was at 3000 miles. That was last night, I added water wetter to top it off. Can't see anything through the sight, had to take off the pod to see level. |
