hers the setup: 2007xb9sx with k&n air, race map, and jardine slip on. it's running too rich (popping on decel, and really hesitant between 3-4k). if i open up my airbox will that "trick" my bike into sucking more air to even out the mixture? i have limited access to data logging capabilities, so i'm looking to do all i can on my own before hooking it back up to a pc. thanks for any input.

If it's popping on decel, that generally means the mixture is either spot-on or slightly lean. If it were too rich, throttle response would be sluggish on acceleration and cruise with no popping.

If you recently put these parts on, you need to run it at about 3500 rpms for about 5 miles. This procedure allows the EFI to learn the environment such as ambient air & engine temp, rpms and oxygen content and adjust the Adaptive Fuel Value (AFV) for the conditions. There is more info on this procedure in the Knowledge Vault on BadWeB.

There is a certain range of adjustment that the EFI can adapt to regarding add-on parts. But modding the airbox may induce conditions beyond the EFI's ability to "normalize". So it might be a good idea to use something like ECMSpy and connect your PC just to read the AFV for your current setup and use that data as a baseline for future modding.

not an exhaust leak, i can be sure of that. and i did run it for its "adjustment" period. it didn't help. i ended up dissecting the airbox. it ran great out to the freeway. until it readjusted itself rich. no solution without data logging. which poses a slight logistical nuisance. thanks for the 411.

I would say its the head temp sensor if you have already reset the tps.

first check your intake seals..

jardine with race ecm , needs more fuell on other places as the race exhaust

so it will self adjust, making it to rich in regions where the jardine don't need that much fuel,

iff you can read out the learend afv value it should be between 95-115,
