Can you reprogram the stock ECM with the Data from the Race ECM or is there something else
that comes into play

Bottom of page. Yes you can. It's fairly simple once you get the cable and the driver installed for EcmSpy.

WARNING: PRIOR to uploading the race ecm maps, make sure you download and save your stock maps in a VERY safe place... Burn them to a CD.
That way if something happens, you have a base to fall back on.

Also, you will probably need to do a TPS reset after uploading the race ecm maps as well.

Have fun! Happy Tuning!}}

I tried doing just that and the bike would start, but did not run well and the fan ran all the time with the key on, with cold engine.
Then I learned the memory allocation (so to speak) are in different places on the race ECM vs a stock XB ECM.

The fuel and ignition "maps" can be uploaded to the stock ECM; but it's not the same as the race ECM. Due to internal differences.

As Teeps says memory allocations are different. If you want the Race data on a Stock ECM you have to manually update the cells so that the data is n the correct cell. You can not just do a generic over write.

Thanks for the info Teeps and Xbswede, that is good to know.

I haven't had time to play around with mine yet... Plus, I really want to learn more about the tuning science before I even download an already tuned map.

The memory layout is identical when using the same ecm type, but varies in size and layout between the various ecm types. It's not possible to exchange memory contents between different ecmtypes.

Gunter

Can you reflash a race ecm or is it better to just buy a stock one to reflash and sell the race one?

I burned the race ecm map (not eeprom!) to my stock ecm with ecmspy and it works just fine. No copying and pasting or anything like that.

I've only gone through two tanks, but it seems about the same.
