You suck, sir. Sorry I am jealous. I can't even get 10k out of a front tire. I'll take the rear and put another 2k on it though. I'm sure you couldn't wait to get that front tire off. | ||

These tires were on my bike when i bought it used, i got no idea how i got so much out of them, as i toasted my Uly's in about 6k each rear. | ||

Oh yea, night and day difference with the handling now, I almost wrecked because I got used to having to fight it so much in the turns, now it will fall over just by thinking about it. | ||

I have a theory that there are Sync knock-offs out there. I got 3-4k off the last rear I had, and the first one I had lived for about 7-8k miles. These knock-offs are perhaps made in Taiwan, and use a much softer, cheaper rubber than the genuine Pirelli rubber. That said, I am switching to something else if the new one I just put on doesn't get at least 5k out of 'em. Why oh why do they work so well though? -Oh, and if you're Taiwanese, no offense. | ||

Hey I don't feel so bad now  Nah I am Chinese (and not specifically one from Taiwan) but growing up, there used to be a common expression regarding Japanese knock-offs until Nikon displaced Rollei and Sony displaced Grundig. So the expression morphed to the Taiwanese equivalent since 'aftermarket' replacement tailights from Taiwan looked good enough but somehow faded from red to grey in under twelve months. Back to the topic, I thought I heard someone (Vern?) mention that they felt that perhaps the compound used for the Syncs might have changed since their initial release..... | ||

I think maybe you got 10k miles out of that front and it has been needing changed for about 8k miles! It rains too often and sporadically around here for me to let a tire go that far but that is impressive. I wish we had curves so I could get more use out of the other 2/3 of my tires. I was trying to figure out how many sets of Syncs I have had. Two sets on the '05 City-X. Then the Uly came with 616's, then to Syncs, four rears and two fronts. The last rear came off at 3500 miles, compared to 6000 for each of the previous tires. I noticed on the last two rear tires the rubber mold pattern changed on the inside. At the same time they wore differently. Out of round by the wear bar indicators and tread depth. The last one came off because the wear bars were showing in three separate places on the tire. A few of the front Syncs that I have seen, even the one in the above picture, have worn the tread off of the left side and still had plenty on the right. That issue developed about the same time. It is as if Pirelli started to out source them to keep up with demand. If that is the case I would think they went with the lowest bidder. Anyhow, for now, and at about $40 more I'm loving the Michelin Road Pilot II. It is looking like it will do about 8000 miles and it handles so much easier than the Sync did, and I only have it on the rear so far, with a new Sync on the front. | ||

Vern i will get the info off the tires when i get home, and compare to the fresh ones on my blue rims. I know these were bought and installed from my harley dealer. From the pics i uploaded i see the rear was made in Germany, i dont know off hand where my others were made. | ||

Yea sorry Space, I lack a pressure gauge at home, gonna stop at Autozone and nab one quick. Last time i checked them was at my dads shop where i do most my wrenching. They should be the book pressures, as thats where i have always left them. | ||

Pretty impressive!! Do you coast alot ?? On the rear I get about 5k till the wear bars show. Could get another 1k but... 90% of failures come in the last 10% of tire life. Ain't worth the hassle of a flat or violating the safety margins to get a few more miles. They don't call worn out tires "carcases" for no good reason. | ||

Ask and ye shall receive. Got a pen type pressure checker. Ok I hope this thing reads wrong, as it said 26 front 28 rear! Last time I checked them was during an oil change back in mid June, swapped out for the blue rims beginning of July. I checked my current tires on blue rims, it said 30 front and rear, yet it was 34/36 when I put them on. Guess I will be keeping a closer on this, and checking my gauge against the few at my dad’s shop next time I go there. | ||

I had my tires changed last Saturday on my 2006 Uly. The front D616 had 20,507 on it and the rear D616 had 10,450 on it. They were replaced with a new set of Dunlops D616. Just like new again! But I think my next set of tires, in another 10,000 miles will be the new Dunlop Roadsmarts since I don't need the off-road capability. | ||
