I'll be riding somewhere tonight, don't know where though. Maybe over to Matt's to give him that TPS reset that I was suppose to do already. Been so damn busy lately and I'm leaving for Brazil on Sunday for a week and a half. |

I'd like to get out on Sunday, but my tires are questionable, at best, and I'm too busy on Saturday to swap 'em. Somebody convince that my tires are OK: I can barely see the silouhette of the tread down the center and the strips got plenty left. |

Has anybody thought about doing the Green Mountain Ride (benefits Norris Cotton Cancer Center) on the 24th? The ride starts in West Lebanon, NH and heads south then loops back to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in West Leb for the prize drawing, music and barbecue. You don't need to be there to win so if you want to keep heading south when the ride turns north go ahead. I've set up a NEBO team and noticed that there's a Bavarian Bunch team and a Granite State HD team too. We gonna let them show us up? The raffle tickets are available and count towards your donation. There are 2 plasma cutters, a welder and some other stuff as prizes. Email me or go to http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/?ievent=263489 for more info. |

Hey Andella I might be up for a ride Wed. I have the whole day off but have committed a good chunk of it to "Buell maintenance day". I have to rejet, and I also have a switch that needs switching etc. But if you're up for a pm ride let me know. |

To clarify (not to insult): 1) Launch ECMSpy (latest version with auto-detect, right?) 2) plug in cable, wait for the lappy to recognize it. 3) plug into ECM Port, make sure the plug COMPLETELY engages. 4) turn key, turn kill switch on. 5) in ECMSpy, click on the button that looks like a serial cable, then click on "autodetect." Wait for the connection. At the bottom of the 'spy screen it should now say something about having a connection. If it doesn't, it must be because you suck. 6)click on the Keys to go online. If it still doesn't work, ya got me... Problem may be the cable? |

This might help. I had trouble with my laptop seeing the cable. PC Interface lead To connect ECMSpy running on a PC to your bike you need a special lead. The ECU on the bike uses a TTL (5V) serial data port - NOT RS232. To connect to you PC you have to convert the TTL to RS232 data levels. There are several ways to do this * Use a MAX232 level shifter chip and build up a little electronic circuit, powered from the PC RS232 COM port. If you do this use the MAX232E device as it is ESD protected. * Use a FTDI interface lead, this connects to you USB port, emulates a RS232 COM port and provides 5V TTL signals direct. FTDI Drivers The required drivers can be found here: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm The correct driver type is VCP. I assume you will need administrator rights to install the driver. FTDI offers various installation guides in their library: http://www.ftdichip.com/Documents/InstallGuides.ht m There's one trap: if the driver installation is interrupted after installing the USB driver (this is the first part of the driver installation), the virtual COM port driver has not been installed, but you will not get the usual "New device found ..." dialogue in windows if you unplug/replug the cable, and therefore never get asked to specify a location for the missing serial port driver. Best is, to deinstall the USB driver completely. Unplug the cable and replug after a few seconds. Then again follow the instructions from FTDI. A very basic test could be done using hyper terminal (Start -> Run -> hypertrm.exe). Open a new session using the new virtual com port and (important!) set flow control to "none". Then shorten the yellow (pin 3) and the orange (pin 1) wire using a straightened paper clip or something similar. Every keypress in the hyperterm window should be echoed immediately. If not, check if flow control is disabled and you're using the correct port. |
