Hey again Chameleon, I apologize if I missed something! My point wasn't that I was deeply wounded, just looking forward to some fellow "Buell- time"! I'm here whenever you and Tim and others in our area want to get together..... I do have a challenging work schedule like many of you, but, am hopeful we can chase some sunshine soon. Stay safe, Tracy |

Hey Lionboy70, I just got done (today as a matter of fact) offering the same exact advice to another fellow Bueller on a different thread! Funny how great minds think alike! (notice how I conveniently lumped myself in there with you?) Stay safe, Tracy |

Hey Chameleon, How long have they had your "trusty steed" now, and, when do you anticipate getting it back??? Hope it's soon for your sake! Hope to ride soon, Tracy |

Wow, This is pretty cool...... I got my own thread! Probably because someone's trying to tell me that they want me to take it to the side?!?! Oh well, ain't the first time I've screwed things up! Probably won't be the last either. |

Hey again Lionboy70, No, I'm not absolutely certain what's up with this charging system giz? I haven't been "reflashed yet, so, I can't be certain that the ECM will take care of the entire problem, or, whether the stator isn't putting out enough juice for the intended purpose??? I'm inclined to think that the stator is sufficient, and that the problem is more in the voltage regulation itself, relative to the way the ECM controls it. Again, I'm no expert on this subject...... I do know that when I went out to the garage to start it and found it dead, I had probed the battery tender plug after getting it started later on. As I observed my digital multimeter, I saw roughly 11.56 volts. As I progressively rolled the throttle back, I noticed that it didn't really start putting anything significant back into the battery until I was up around 2500+ rpm, and certainly not a sufficient amount until well after 3,000 rpm. Let's face it, if it can't replace what it uses, the battery will go dead! I hope that whenever the new reflash is released, it takes care of the entire problem! For now though, I just keep it on the Battery Tender Junior! |

I had a dealer look into why mine was dead occasionally when I went out to use it after 24+ hours of no use. They said that, according to Buell, the charging system doesn't actually charge the battery until 4,000+ RPM. I still think mine has a charging issue, but if I keep it over 4,000 RPMs and ride it every day, it seems to do OK. |

I can't find it right now but, IIRC the peak charging is either at 4,000 or 5,000rpm. I need a shower and time to scuff in my new Pilot Road 2CT. Time2 rinse and blow dry @ 95deg and 70mph for 30 mins should do it............ p.s. I promise to keep it over 5k rpm |
