WTF did my wife do to me?!?! I come home from work and find she has conjured some rather disturbing mental images in people.... mcrngy1- that pick looks just like the blisters on my legs (I got several).... So now the running total of known burns is up to 3 people (one person multiple times) Jdugger. A few months ago a bunch of us got together to ride to Willow Springs to watch the races. The temps were 115 and the bikes were scorching hot...I figured that would be expected with weather temps as they were...The only reason I didn't get blistered (only red and raw) was because i kept cocking my legs out to get the air flow over them... BTW, my wife is laughing her arse off at Oddball's post.. |

BTW, my wife is laughing her arse off at Oddball's post.. So my wife asks me.. "what are you laughing about over there?" Me: "uh-ehh. nothing.. too difficult to explain" She says: On BadWeB again I see? But (no pun intended) to be on the safe side, I think I will avoid 210 for a few days just in case, and for odd reasons, there is a traffic mayhem there. Heal up quickly Tom! |

yeah, duty was a little interesting today with the motor boots and pants chaffing the legs...I still wouldn't trade this bike for anything-even if we can't find a solution to the burning frame. |

Sometimes crazy inspiration just strikes me. Glad I gave her a laugh. All the blisters people are getting sucks. I wonder at what temp a second degree burn/blistering can happen? It would appear that conditions have been reached for at least some. Perhaps chaps made from those thermal survival blankets? |

A little OT, but Saturday I had a guy come in on an '06 Uly, from the East Coast; Really upset at his bike... he was burning up too. I talked to sales , then pulled the heat shields off an 08 Uly on the floor and sold them to him. Hope it helped his Sturgis trip. Just an illustration where Buell had a problem it fixed - The parts are now stock OEM AND available as a kit for older Ulys. The Factory not only listens to our problems, they watch OUR solutions too. Keep it up. Z |

Ever ride a bike in 108F weather in full leathers? You gotta be really stupid and really love riding to do something like that General consensus is that anytime temps are above 98 or so, you're better off covering up than undressing. If you're body is 98.6 degrees, and the wind moving past is 108, you'll be colling by trapping in your own body heat. |

+1 Zac, I called my dealer on Sunday and told them what the issue was. He said he would be calling corporate directly on Tuesday (he is the biggest Buell mover on the west coast). I'm sure BMC will be able to come up with a solution for this problem. |

This thread seems to indicate that the new map will have a positive effect on the heat issue. That seems like great news! |

Not sure if anyone is following this thread and the issue still needs to be followed up through the chain regardless but Annoy chimed in the remap due out his fall. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/383198.html?1217871486 Quote from the above thread. In the old days of analog carbs and simple ignition timing, Mad8vatr's comments would have been real close to right. But the effect of sophisticated spark mapping and proper combustion really can give you a free lunch; it's just that the lunch is coming from stopping wasting food! It is possible with the right combination to make more power, have less heat and use less fuel through this interaction, as you will soon see. |
