WIthout a petcock on the left side radiator (would be a good idea, Buell) you have to remove the lower radiator hose for drainage. Easier said than done...anyone done this, yet? Mine doesn't want to budge. Tips or tricks? I would like to do this the conventional way (see above), but what about an automotive coolant exchanger for at least getting old stuff out? I pulled out the bottom screw of the water pump. Its on the right side below the hoses. I think its the lowest point in the system. I did it with the cap off,engine running and the hose pouring water into the system. After about 20 min it was only water coming out. Then i let it run dry and i shut the engine off before it exploded. | ||

I had the same problem getting the lower left radiator hose off. I was able to remove the clamp and then squeeze the hose so that the coolant drained. I squeezed the hose until no more coolant came out. I wasn't able to get the hose off, so that's good enough. I'm sure I didn't get it all out, but it's going to have to work. | ||

Thanks for the suggestions...both options for sure. Wonder why it took 20 minutes to get it to run clear? | ||

little bitty drain hole at the pump, it goes faster taking the r/side hose loose. also, undo the overflow bottle screws and dump it out and rinse. tim | ||

It was clear way before the 20 min i just wanted to make sure it was 100% clean. |
