i know this has been brought up probably a million times before, but im still confused. on the front sprocket, what all is required for the chain swap? i have front sprockets from my sportster, are they the same offset? i ran a 160 tire on my sporty with the sprockets i have |

It depends on the rims not the tires. You prolly need a thicker front spacer to make it align. I got a spacer from Bartells and you can probably get one from Al at americansportbike.com. If you call Al you can get the entire kit. I went with a 520 but most go with a heavier duty 530 so you don't have to adjust or replace as often. Let me know what else you want to know. |

I had to handmake mine with steel pipe.... I forget the thickness........... |

my main reason for avoiding the whole kit is im doing a wheel swap from another bike and the rear sprocket has to be custom made anyways. i got the info i needed after more searching, a 1991 xl sprocket and a .20" spacer. what sucks is the rim im going to is 4.5", but its alot lighter than the buell rim and it will still take a 170mm tire, and the matching front has dual discs! |

I made sprocket spacers out of some big ol' washers--I opened up the ID on a lathe. rt |
