I'm buying a Buell 1125R on Thursday and the insurance rates through Progressive are quite high ($1400/year). My Buell M2 only costs me about $200/year. I think that Progressive considers the 1125R a "high-performance" motorcycle, so the rates are pretty high.

What are other 1125'ers paying for insurance per year? Thanks!

Mine is around 472 a year. State Farm goes by displacement only and doesn't differentiate between 1100cc cruisers or 1100cc sportbikes.

I'm through American Family and it's about $390 a year. They double the rate on Sportbikes and don't insure the real high risk models. However, they don't consider Buell's to be sportbikes, at least not yet. They haven't had a high enough claim rate to push them to the higher cost. I guess Buell riders are safer than your average sportbike rider.

Call Sentry insurance, they worked with Buell on insurance issues. Just call them you will be surprised...

Call Patrick Ball @ "Cheap insurance" 1-800-460-7014 or 800-444-7014 They got me coverage for under $300 a year. I am "older" but the bike is still faster than Hell. Rich

I'm with AAA, 27 yrs. old, comprehensive coverage, and I'm paying $884 annually. I also live in California in a big city. Since I still owe on the bike I have to pay for comprehensive.

i'm 26, in louisiana. absolutely PERFECT driving record. my XB12X was nearly $1800 a year with progressive. Geico quoted me under $900 for the same bike. They said when I get the 1125R it will be closer to $1k/year

i don't like it..but i can live with it.

insurance is ridiculously expensive down here. nobody can drive worth a damn, and those who do, don't have insurance. :-|

What Ntxr said, and I believe Dairyland is part of Sentry. If I didn't know any better I swear Dairyland insurance has some sort of sweetheart deal with HD and Buell to cover bikes at a lower rate. $300.00 per year for me with full coverage from Dairyland/Sentry.

State Farm full coverage with multi policy discount kicked the hell out of what I was paying progressive. Geico wasn't even in the ball park. I live in Fontana (socal) and my rates are still laughingly low

Holy crap Jack! How many bikes does that cover? I, too, have Geico and spend 320 bucks the first year and 40 bucks less than that there after (due to the 1125R being a first year bike, so they told me). That's about 26 bucks a month.

Hwyranger, Make us laugh! How low are they. Do you get a discount being in your line of work?

JJ

Damn JJ, I might have to check in with the cavemen also. I'm 37 and I keep one speeding ticket on there for good measure and I'm payin' $750 a year on an S-1 ,25r and a Duc Monster. I know those other two bikes aren't costing me an extra $400 especially since I've only got liability on them.

+1 on Sentry!

I went through them and they hooked me up with another group of guys that got me $647/year, and that's as a 24 year-old with ALL the options ; )

The reason I never really considered buying a 1125R

Progressive Online Quote
12months: $4093.00
$20K/40K/10K (minimum)
No Under/Uninsured coverage
No extra medical
No Roadside assist
No Accesories
$500deductable Comp & Coll

This is with the following discounts;
HomeOwner's Discount
Paid in Full Discount
Responsible Driver Discount
Safety Course Discount
Transfer/Prior Insurance Discount

I'm 27 with a clean driving record.

Edit:
If I play around with the "Model Not listed"
Super Sport 1125cc -> $4,093 <-Apparently this is what the 1125R is classified as.
Super Street 1125cc-> $1537 <-Hopefully this is what the 1125CR will be classified as.
If so I will be riding one real soon.
Anyone want to buy a really clean '03 XB9S??

$620/year with Sentry in TX (city population about 100,000)... covered to the hilt... I'm 37 and have less than one year of experience riding motorcycles. I am a homeowner... seem to recall having to prove it.

Some speeding tickets in my car. I took the MSF courses, which I think helps lower the rate, of course. Also, as some folks have mentioned, you get a deal with Sentry via Buell. I had some Progressive quotes too, and they were much higher than Sentry's quote.

4100 bucks from a progressive quote for 1 motorcycle ???

What, did you put down the City as Baghdad or something??

We have a 2004 Ford F-250, 2003 Mercedes Benz e320, HD Electra Glide, and a Street Honda Scooter all insured full coverage for 1400 per year, with 250 deductible. (Richmond VA)

$4k,I got a similar quote for a 1125 from progressive. Insurance is the thing that's stopping me from getting one at the moment.

I pay $800 for my 05 xb right now : (
