Nevco1, Had a great time, put a total of 450 miles on the bike. I met DaveS and the crew from Waterloo in Dubuque. Thoroughly enjoyed it and glad that I went. |

EasyFlier...Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Coming from Iowa, you guys get to experience the best twisties and sweepers Wisconsin has to offer! Wish I was so lucky, was a superslab drone from the Milwaukee area. I was looking all over the place for Dave at Leland and just didn't see him (and he is a hard guy to miss in a crowd...LOL). Was trying to set him up for an interview with Sev Pearman, editor of Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly, But Sev will be contacting Dave in the next week or so. What time did you folks arrive? I bailed out at 2:00 PM. Then again I had breakfast in Pine Bluff at 8:30 and was in Leland at noon. |

Dyna...Took my Polish Bike today. You know, Da Buellski. Ran great!!! Really had fun in the tight stuff. Could have ridden the Glider just as well. Tons of HD's at the run. Parked next to two early 50's pan heads and they really drew a crowd.

Nevco!, Sorry we missed you! We didn't get to Pine Bluff til about 12 noon. Had some bratwurst, talked to Ponytail Kevin, he is now the Buell guy at Lakeshore HD/Buell. I've known Kevin for about 4 years now, very pro Buell, should be a great addition to the dealership. We must have just missed you in Leland, we got there about 2pm, we left at 3 to head home. I think we had 15 bikes in our group after picking up Kevin and his friend on the speed triple in Pine Bluff. Hey! I didn't crash this time! What a great day! Ride to the edge! Dave...In reference to my previous post, Sev will be contacting you in the near future. I gave him a little bio about your activities with Buell, multi-state customer base, very active BRAG chapter/schedule, BattleTrax, import accessories, etc. He mentioned something about "nobody refuses a free lunch" so be forewarned, he is coming your way. LOL Guess I should have hung around a tad longer. Oh well, there will always be another Slimey Crud Run. |

Nevco1, Too bad we missed you, met and rode with a lot of good folks, unfortunately I failed to get most of their names. The return trip was super, though I think that the next time I follow DaveS I'll tape over my speedo. After I left the group inside the Iowa state line I took the slow scenic route along the river, until I found gearloose and he guided me up to highway 52 for the trip into Dubuque. 52 was a nice road, plenty of beautiful country and enough twists and turns to keep things interesting. Certainly look forward to more rides with those guys, they are serious, have a good time and are very competent riders. I've got to get in a couple track days next year to improve my skills. |

Dave...My pleasure. Sev and I had breakfast in Pine Bluff and we got into some interesting industry conversations. On a local (Midwestern) note, you and what you have done at Waterloo HD/Buell are the most newsworthy of all I have experienced in the last year. Seemed especially appropo as you are in a location and of a mind set to better serve the MN market than the MKE dealers. Will send him a follow up email just to keep the fire going. Have a great day!!! |

Easyflier...Speedo? What Speedo? I thought Buells came with a tach and an odometer. Thanks for the heads up. Now I know what that other thing is. LOL Sounds like you had a great ride. I actually lucked out on the way home and found a fast moving cage to run as "Bear Bait" and we were running 90+ all the way back. Track days sound like fun. Considering the activity in the area, I would think that a track near Dubuque would be a natural. Would draw from all the major markets in the four state area. Hmmm...perhaps we can start a syndicate and build our own designed tight for motorcycles sort of like the "Streets of Willow" at Willow Springs. Heck, a handful of investors, sponsors and a farmer with an extra pasture with major elevation changes is all we would need. Even better if one of the syndicate investors owned a grading and asphalt paving firm. Now there is something to think about over the winter! |

That would be something, a local track to play on. I think Dave said that they plan more stuff at Blackhawk next year, that's reasonably close but I don't know if it is anything like the course you're thinking about. |

I understand that Blackhawk is a very good track. Recently resurfaced and quite Buell friendly. Unfortunately, I missed the recent track day there but am looking forward to next year. From what I understand the "Fast Boyz from Illinois" had a fantastic day! |

blackhawk is a great Buell track . . . . .short/twisty back section, just enough straight to get almost to readline on the front straight . . . . a certain factory we know is purported to do testing there |

We never exceeded the speed limit all day! Where were you Bomber, expected to see you. Blackhawk is a great Buell track! I am in the planning stages with Edge Racing to bring a track day or 2 there for next season. I am hoping for support/attendence from Buell riders from Ia,WI,Mn,KS and Il to make it work for Sean at Edge. I'll keep everyone posted on dates and such. I drove up to the crud run as usual from Janesville, but I am sorry to say that I did not recognize anyone.....you simply must start wearing name tags . I was riding my M2 race bike. You couldn't have missed it...TZ tail, VERY LOUD, smelled like race gas! I only saw a handfull of buellers. There was a group of a few guys from the factory. One guy had an S1 with a firebolt fairing painted orange & black - very cool. Maybe next time I will know who to look for. Did you see the Buell hardtail with front controls & a diamond plate gas tank? It too must be an experimental from the factory....wish I had pictures, cause no one will believe me. |

Snowdave...I am living proof that the Diamond Plate Buell Rat Bike exists. It really got a chuckle from the crowd when he made his entrance. Damn, it was ugly but obviously the pride and joy of it's creator. LOL I was the only one sitting on the railing in front of the Big Bar (with coffee in hand) watching the parade. My Black X1 with tank and tail packs was right in front of me. From my vantage point, I could not smell your fumes (LOL) but a loud Buell is sort of a common entity. If you get my drift. Good idea about identity. Perhaps Buellers should wear something like a removable Blue Buell Arm Band (velcro or elastic) at these events for ID. I personally dislike wearing colors or anything with a logo on it (I feel the company should pay me for the advertising exposure) but something like this might not be too bad. |

Dyna...So was there a review of the Diamond Buell Rat Bike or just a pic? Would like to learn some detail about it in the event I get an opportunity to see it again. Funny thing is I didn't think it was worth the effort to see yesterday and now my curiosity is killing me. Go figure. |

Any pictures?!??!?!? I'm pissed that I had to miss BOTH runs this year. I usually miss the spring run because of work. This year work kept me from both. Oh well, no football in May. I should be able to make the spring event next year. As for hardtail Buells....I already have my custom cruiser design utilizing a Buell motor, tank & extended forks. Now all I need is someone to build be a frame (oh yeah...and about 10K in expendable income). Never hurts to dream |
